Ok so like I previously described, I read and flashed my firmware just fine after a few tries using DosFlash16 on a Boot Disc floppy. It dumped a 256k fw file..i put it in the fast folder and ran the .bat to make the new iXtreme fw, and it made it and also had the same key and looks like it should. Then i put it on my floppy and booted into Dos, erased my fw, and wrote my new firmware using the described dosflash16 commands and methods. everything went fine for the whole process. So then I went and got a good backup of Skate for 360 (everything checked out in Mulleter and the iXtreme compatible box is checked with all the other boxes and the Data checked out so I know it's a good one. I burned the .ISO to a Memorex DVD+R D using DVD Decrypter and tried it in my Xbox (which still plays originals and movies just fine) and it just kept trying very hard to read it (i could tell by the freakin sound) but finally shows "Unplayable Disc."
Now I know it wrote the new FW I made to my Xbox successfully because when I dump it now, the HEX values in a HEX editor are the same ones as the new FW I had made, and not the same ones as the original firmware. And it still has the same key so everything seems perfect!!! But it won't play backups still!! And the backup I made must be good if Mulleter shows it as being good. I know I didn't use a Verbatim DL but do you think it really matters? As long as you do everything right, why wouldn't it still work on a Memorex one?? I'm out of ideas here and I don't know what else to try to be honest because I saw no errors in flashing so I wouldn't know where to look first. If you know you wrote the new firmware you made to your drive, and it still plays originals and movies, then how would it not be flashed correctly?? If it had been done wrong, wouldn't it not load up anything anymore because of a wrong key or something??? Thanks for your help if anyone can help, I'm dyin' here with all these success stories being posted!
