So can i spoof a 79fl with the ben-q + ixtreme ?

Yes, you can spoof your benq firmware to report as your v79 hitachi.  You will want to do the following and this will work for any Hitachi v40-79 and Samsung ms25/ms28 to benq firmware.

1) Dump the current firmware off of your to orig.bin

2) Create an iXtreme firmware based off of your orig.bin.  To do this, you can place origbenq.bin in the fast/quiet folder and use the 'Make iXtreme Firmware' command. This will create benq-ix.bin.

3) Place your Hitachi v79 original firmware (hitorig.bin) in the fast/quiet folder where you created your benq iXtreme firmware.

4) Open a command prompt window and goto the fast/quiet folder.
    Type :   firmtool hitorig.bin benq-ix.bin

Then flash benq-ix.bin to your benq.  It is important to dump your original firmware first to obtain your original benq drive serial number and patch it into the iXtreme benq firmware.

If i am spoofing why do i care if i have the original S/N ?

I got a write error while flashing the drive. I have a e65 error, tried the orig.bin same thing. I have Via 6421 with nforce4 motherboard. Am I screwed?

I am using dosflash16

Can I do the bad flash method with the dosflash32? I flashed with fast and really dont want fast its too loud and I would like my drive to live longer so i want to go back to the other mode. Can i do this in dosflash 32 or will it have to be dosflash 16?

The benq iXtreme fw doesnt have a serial at all.  That information, along with the key, has been FF'd out.  So, you're essentially just providing the firmware with a correct response incase it was for some reason requested.
