C4EVA iXtreme Benq V1.1
« Reply #225 on: November 01, 2007, 02:26:00 AM »

A couple people asked this question before but one wasn't answered (unless I missed it) and the other retracted his question before anyone answered. So, does anyone know if it's possible or feasible to use a USB-SATA device? I only have an old crappy laptop for a computer so if it's not possible then I'm just s.o.l. for now.  tongue.gif

Thanks.

Well I spoke too soon lastnight,   sad.gif

After what I assumed was a successful job I hooked the dvdrom back into the xbox and stuck it all back together and moved it back to the main tv and when switching it on I get 3 red lights and the power brick stays orange!!

The power was fine to do the firmware because I used it for the job itself but when sticking it all back together ie taling my sata off and putting the rom back onto its own sata and mboard, thats when i now get the red lights.

Any ideals?

Can't be just a coinsadance that it dies right after the patch can it?

First things first. Check the image of your backed up game with xdvdmulleter to confirm that you have correctly extracted the neccesary stealth files (DMI/PFI/SS). If you have verified those true, then we'll worry about taking a look at your original.

thanks for the reply...like i said i only have the two burned backups now and no .iso files of the images anymore...when I explore the two discs they are in VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder form. I did extract one of the discs to .iso though using mulleter the corrent way I think, but when i load the iso up in the program after, it wont connect to the database to check it and it doesnt fill in any of the stealth file boxes...any ideas??

turns out i was using XBOX 360 SS Merger instead by mistake..

I loaded the .iso up in Mulleter and it said broken PFI or something so it repaired that...i also extracted the other two patch files from the same .iso and re-inserted them (dont know why)...then i did the AutoFix button under CRC Checking and it said Stealth checked out and ISO checksums weren't matching but it fixed that too and says ISO is good. Then it checked the data partition and it was good too. I think it said it all checks out..now could that just be a fluke and something out of all that stuff still isn't right or does it truly mean that the game will work when burned now?? Thanks so much.

No, likely not.

Yes, it can be a coincedence. Its very rare that a RROD is caused by a fw flash, and we've only seen it with hitachi consoles. You would have to REALLY brick it hard.

Yes, all is well. Simply reburn the patched iso and you'll be fine. the autofix feature works wonders, simply use that from now on.

well everything in Mulleter for the ISO is checked off (video partition, video data, security sector, PFI, DMI) EXCEPT for random padding and iXtreme compatible...why aren't those checked off? What do I do?? I re-patched the ISO with the SS, PFI, and DMIs from a site I found and it all checks out except for those two checkboxes

I sorted my problem out,  I had plugged the white power lead upside down into the benc,  that caused the rrod which went away once i corrected the problem and I've now tested a backup and can confirm it was a success.

Wow, I'm surprised you didn't burn the drive that way.

QUOTE(just4747 @ Nov 1 2007, 03:20 AM) *

I followed the noob pdf guide too..having trouble..i think..

It seemed to Read in DOS perfect..rebooted, made the iXtreme FW from the orig.bin, copied that to my DOS boot disc...rebooted and did the command for erasing, worked fine, rebooted both systems and did the command for writing the new benq-ix FW to the benQ..once again, seemed to work fine! i shut down and reconnecting the drive to the xbox SATA, and booted it.
I ran an original game first, worked fine..then tried both of my backups I have burned to DVD+R DLs, which are Gears of War and BioShock. The drive just kept trying to read Gears of War forever, making the oddest noises, I had to eject it, it sounded a little crazy. Then BioShock took a little bit to load and eventually just said it was a Mixed Media Disc and couldn't do anything with it on the Xbox, so ejected that. What happened? It had to have flashed cause I did everything right and it all worked with no errors, and it still plays my originals. I believe the backups I have are patched correctly but not sure, how can I find out if they are patched while they are in burned disc form like this? I don't really know how else to test this as I have no other backups right now. Any ideas? Thanks a lot guys

-I used my Dell Dimension 2350
-SY-VIA-150 SATA PCI card from Newegg.com
-Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV/E processor on the motherboard (don't know what ICH it is?)
-Loaded provided Drivers for the SATA card that it came with and disabled the SCSI/RAID Host Controller On-board even though it has no Sata on-board.

Any help, I'm desperate, I've read all tuts and all posts EVERYWHERE and searched too..no idea anymore. I can send my orig and iX FWs if anyone needs it to try and help me. Thank you again

what burner are u using?

make sure you set the booktype to dvd-rom in dvdinfo pro if necessary

Like i said, use the autofix. It will make it so the ixtreme box is checked. I will not answer any more questions regarding this as it is outside the realm of this thread AND forum.

To read a firmware takes about 10-15 seconds. Flashing takes about 25-30 seconds
