i just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work people have done for this project.

after doing several samsung and hitachi drives, i did my first benq drive.
after not knowing anything about it prior, i did some light reading, put the necessary files on my usb flash drive, booted from it, and away i went.

i have to say, easier than the samsung! went without a hitch first go, and couldnt be happier.

once again, thanks to everyone involved!

OK, box just came back from repairs... opened it up, its a whole new mobo and drive now... (ms25 before and now its a BenQ)

Anyway, my comp setup is Intel ICH5 mobo and a VT6421 PCI card.

I have disabled ALL my IDE/SATA/onboard LAN/sound

I turned my 360 and PC on at the same time

Used DOSFLASH auto mode to list options

Found my Drive fine, proceeded to select the option of the drive

Proceeded to type 'R' for read

Proceeded to type 'BORIG.BIN' for the firmware name

And then it gets stuck on Reading Bank 0...


No idea what else to do...

Try using the manual mode, use iprep to get the device-io (to specify the port)

Yeah, tried using manual mode too... exact same thing happening... kinda lost as to what else to do

ive just hit some problems when tyrying to 'update' a Benq firmware ..

got all prepared, and in DOS .... done the read command first ...
asked about vender (the drive is off, and im doing this manually)
i hit yes .... displays the stauts thingy ...
i turn Benq on .. and it straight away it reads it out ! .. (odd i thought, thats not how i read that its gonna happern but anyhows)

i do the above again, so i get two dumps, so on safe side ..
use firmtool, in dos to prepare the new firmware .. that goes fine .. have a green Success

ok heres when it goes tits up ..
do the write command (didnt do erase, as using Nforce 4 board with onboard SATA)
now as per the reading sequence... the drive is off, asked about vender, hit yes, displays status ...
turn Benq on, starts the writing .. all banks OK,
but at the end states 35071 error writing (cannot remember the exact context will write it down as im about to try again)

now the 360 dont turn on proper, the green LED flashes like its ejecting or summit ...
so tried erasing and that dont work ... gonna try writing my original back ! ...

but if theres any other ideas please let me know ! ...
and to re ask, whats the dif, of putting 1 or 0 at the end of ya command (after filename)

as i cannot edit my above post ...

after reading some more on here, tried a few other things ...
found that it always auto did things... so could'nt do the whole switch off on, and watching the status change's, after/before the vendor qustion...

so tried, as posted by someone, the full auto mode ..
as in just typing dosflash and hitting enter ...
and went to it via that way !
and hey presto read/write/erase simple !  NO faults AT ALL !!

so alls good now ..
(did get right scared as it didnt switch and stuff, but it seems as its now 3 red lights ! .. code 0022
and this 360 has only JUST (a week) came back from repair from MS !!

but anyhows ... fixed this side of things ... using Full auto, on my nforce4 cured all problems (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Im having problems writing the new firmware it keeps saying firmware file is not present, I have read and erased the firmware already has anyone had this problem before?

I didn't now it was that easy
I used the dosflash 32 on nforce4 motherboard


I have another question  
I also have a another xbox360 witch a samsung h-493 drive
can i use de same method for this xbox or not

with the same method  ( dosflash32)
everthing was succesfully

Hi.

1. If i would buy this pci sata card can i flash all the drives of xbox360(hitachi, samsung, benq) without any problem because i have an onboard sata controller of intel ich5.

2. In the future is there any change to newest versions of dosflash that supports others chipset than nforce & via like intel ich5 or is no change to support any others sata chipset in the future.

How flash this drive?
I have the key of VAD6038 and i need copy/flash for BENQ 1650 V.

hi i am just updating to the 1.4 ixtreme firmware using 1.4 dosflash in manaul mode in dos,as 32 dosflash doesnt work within windows on my machine,it says send command but then nothing happens!
So in dos it erases fine then i had a problem writing the firmware back,it wrote to all the banks at the end it said 17 write errors?
I am stuck should i erase and try again or is this ok to use?
Any help would be greatly received!
