WARNING!!!

The DosFlash release on www.xbox-scene is NOT the final one! You should download it at xbins or on the original rapidshare link Schtrom mentioned at XBH! This is no joke!

Schtrom has done some additions to the final release in comparison to the release you can download here. You can see if you have the right one by looking into the folder DosFlash32, if the DosFlash32_EnableDrives.exe is missing you have the right release.

I hope XBS will fix this and use the correct release soon, otherwise it would get very hard to track errors down!!!

Just to let you know that each one does seem to be different (they have different modified by dates)

I have now run a dump on both of them (the enable drives on this download and the dosflash32 on xbins) and i have done a hex comparison and nothing has changed on mine !!??

Not saying that your wrong jsut saying that nothing has changed on my side as regards to reading what is on there atm... anymore info what is different with each release ?

dosflash32 won't load because the OS is preventing an unsigned driver to be loaded

You can use dosflash16 after booting from a usb drive in DOS

but then again, did you use 64bit to flash other drives??? I don't, that's why i have installed dual boot (xp 32b and vista 64b)

No i've never flashed a drive before, im just trying to get all the info i can before i start.  Im getting a Samsung ms25 in the mail in the next 2-3 days and im just trying to figure out what i need to buy.  It seems like i need the VIA chipset and a drive with xp 32bit

As I was saying, on the xbins version you have to put a 0 at the end, on the zip version you do not.

Here goes the MD5 checks.. so yes they don't match, so which one is the real dosflash 1.3?

<BiGD23> from xbins exe file - dosflash16 433A463E9B7AB6C621E24E965951C3DC
<BiGD23> from xbins exe file - dosflash32 DF9D60082C0E13A8E49DE03AEB377D6E
<BiGD23> from topic zip file - dosflash16 9AEA2A39519D0343CEC2C072AD564581
<BiGD23> from topic zip file - dosflash32 B9EF1E32508845022A42B5AE6BD43A9A

why buy a replacement drive when the firmware is coming within a couple of weeks :S

And (as of now) you need an nforce or VIA chipset to flash it solderless so that would be nice to have yes. You can flash it from DOS so no need for winxp

One reason is the Samsung firmware has been proven already.  Another is just not wanting to wait, perhaps?  We were hearing that the BenQ firmware would be out soon a month ago.  Personally, I'm happy to see people content with spoofing instead of bitching and constantly asking, "when will we get BenQ firmware?"

Would i do this from the windows dos command prompt or when i boot into the Usb drive.  Also is this going to copy the firmware to my flash or my hd.  forgive me for being such a newb, i've searched everywhere and can't find a good tutorial or explanation on this.

DosFlash V1.3 Beta - Full Software Based BenQ Flashing
« Reply #52 on: October 22, 2007, 11:20:00 AM »

Thanks to everyone involved in updating dosflash.  Here are my results:

I first tried running it through good'ol dos and my via (syba) 6421 pci card.  Worked like a charm...damn that was easy!!  Used dosflash16 of course and everything ran like the tutorial stated to the tee.  Beautiful!

Then I tried to run it using dosflash32 through my Vista 32-bit install.  I have an NEC burner attached and it kept detecting that in the question so I would state "no" and the power off and on the unit - with appropriate pausing as stated in the tutorial.  Couldn't get it to work so I attempted to get it going through dosflash32 using my integrated VIA8237 controller.  Worked first time!!! Verified that the keys matched and they did.  At this point I had already spoofed the firmware and tested and it worked.

Thanks again.  So much for a beta - this thing rules!!

Anyone know what the mean by second powersupply?

Flashing the BenQ with a VIA card and DosFlash16
--------------------------------------------------
- connect a 2nd power supply unit to the BenQ, don't turn it on yet

Does this mean you can't power the dvd drive via turning on the 360 and running the sata cable to the pc? How do I connect a powersupply to the benq drive? TIA smile.gif

By '2nd power supply' it means not the same power supply that is powering your PC. In the case of dosflash and benq, there is alot of turning off and on to get the flash recognized, so you'll need to power it with your xbox360's psu or a xecuter connectivity kit.

I just tried to open the bin file again with the new fwt4.5 and it said not a valid file. I also tried to read the drive and and now it cant get to read this time. Looks like i got lucky the first time detecting the drive. the drive still works fine as i can still plug it back into the 360 and it comes up with no problems. I'm just trying to get my key off of it so i can spoof a sammy i have over here. I'll keep trying.

Sweet...

I got the Asus P4C800 board with Intel 82801EB (ICH5) chipset... I should be able to read the firmware from a BenQ drive.. right? i checked the readme file...

My xbox died and it has a sammy drive in it... i am planning to swap it with the drive of new xbox... witch i don't have... yet... wink.gif

Thankx

I've had two people so far with VIA and ICH5 that were able to dump w/ dosflash16 (but not with dosflash32). I have a ICH7, and I've not been able to dump in either environments.

Intel ICH9R i have this chipset

on the readme it says:

- Intel SATA Controller IDE (ICH9)
- Intel SATA Controller IDE (ICH9M)

Im assuming this means i would need to buy one of the VIA sata controllers?

Yes, but as of right now, I've not seen any success with ICH7 or higher with via.

QUOTE(lucho @ Oct 21 2007, 10:47 PM) View Post

I have the Via 6421 PCi card.  When running in Windows, I double click dosflash32 but nothing never happens and the program never opens.

I can see it in task manager running as a process.  So I end the task after about 3 minutes and run it again but this time I tell it to not to run the mkt command and the program opens right up.  The benq drive is listed but it does not read.

So basically my question is, why would the program not run when sending the commands and when I don't it opens immediately.  I have deleted the driver in windows per suggestions in this post.

I am going to try to use dosflash and use dos.  I ran MSInfo32 and this is what I got.

IPB Image
I am not sure what the port number is.  The readme states"for the 6421 the 1st port is internal SATA, 2nd is external SATA and 3rd is internal IDE".

So what would I replace port 7000 with?  Example: DosFlash w 7000 1 a0 1 4 a:\ixtreme.bin 0

Iprep shows the following info for my VT6421 controller card: DevID 11063249   I/O: C400CC00

Any info is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Lucho

Its C400

The one in x-s was the version we were testing, I had uploaded it not knowing schtrom added a extra param before release. In regards to compatibility they are exactly the same. The only thing thats different is  the ATAPI device reset before and after flashing 0 = no, 1 = yes (0 at the end of the cmd line) and the extra 'enabler' exe for 32. I have updated the x-s hosted dosflash to the correct version.

keep in mind that an xecuter conn. kit v1 has NO on/off switch, so that won;t work easily!

v2 has an on/off switch, so that can be used with the pc psu

Precisely. Thats why it says '2nd power supply' in reference to xecuter connectivity kit, because the old version doesnt have the ability to switch on/off. However, I've seen quite a few connect kits fried by using that on/off switch, so i never trust it tongue.gif

In the end, its much better to use your 360 as your power supply.

Yes I have both Via and that ICH5 and I am unable to do it in Dosflash32 havent tried 16 because I dont have a  flash drive.

Does this mean with this version we don't have to create a dos shortcut with the "-enabledrives" option as someone posted earlier?

this was posted earlier-
---------------------------------------
remember you have to  create a new shortcut for dosflash32 and add the -enabledrives options

c:\somehtying\path\DosFlash32.exe" -enabledrives

---------------------------------------
