DosFlash V1.3 Beta - Full Software Based BenQ Flashing
« Reply #90 on: October 25, 2007, 11:52:00 AM »

First off, thanks to all involved with this program. I am literally having trouble waiting to write some firmware to my benq smile.gif

My System:
X86 Based
P4S533-X Motherboard
VT6421A (SY-VIA-150)

DosFlash32:
I tried running 32 first because why not? One time it recognized my drive, but gave an error upon hitting the "read" button. Another time it didn't recognize the drive at all; the program just never returned.

DosFlash16:
I just followed the readme included with 1.3 beta and it helped me read my benq fine. I had to boot using an NTFS DOS boot disc because my comp's old, has no floppy, or usb boot support (just google NTFSDOS if you need it). My only tip is pay attention to the readme when it talks about turning your benq on and off. When the DOS prompt displays a solid "0xD1," turn the benq back on and it should begin reading.

Once again, thanks guys, and good luck to everyone giving it a go,
fuch

I have a nForce4 mobo and i didnt have to disable anything. I just disconneted all IDE devices) i only had 2xDVD drives connected)

Did the power on on drive
Run Dosflash
resend MTK vendor
turn BenQ drive off and turn on again after 2 secs

Read and Write was possible.

I also did my Sammy with this program smile.gif

Yes, unplugging the drives should accomplish the same thing smile.gif

I am unsure what my port number is. I know it is right there in my face and I am missing it. Could someone tell me the numbers I need from my above information so I can dump my firmware.
Thanks

It is the last for digits/letters of the first I/O address range. In this case, it should be DF80. The easier way is to open up iprep, check custom Serial ATA box, click list SCSI based controllers, select your VIA card, and look at the first 4 letters/numbers of the Dev IO. That is your port.

Hi Guys,

A quick question: Does this mean that a Nforce based mobo (above Nforce 3 obviously) can be used directly from the native sata to dump the Benq FW or you still have to get the PCI sata card from VIA ?

Sorry if this question has already been answered but I browse thru these 6 pages and have not seen it clearly written.

Thanks again,

Tried everything and nothing happened.

I tried with my Nforce3 motherboard using the standard SATA controller: Nothing...

I tried with the same board but with a VIA 6421L SATA Controller Card: Nothing...

I tried with my ICH7-chipset board and the VIA 6421L: Nothing...

I tried every possible combination with both the 16 and the 32 versions and the only thing that happened was a brutal crash in XP that rendered my XP-installation completely useless.
The damn thing won't even boot up anymore.

Fun...  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Got it to work first time using windows xp, Gigabyte GA-8I945GZ motherboard and the Via 6421L addin card. I used dosflash32 and followed the instructions in the readme exactly and dumped the firmware twice. Worked like a charm smile.gif Compared both flashes using windiff and check the key's in FW Toolbox and they are identical. Now just need iXtreme for benq and im set smile.gif

PS: I did not install the via drivers for the addin card in windows if that makes a difference.

I've got an Nforce MCP61 SATA controller (Supported as said in list) and tried with Dosflash16, no good. I've got it hooked up with the internals of my Blaster360, that way I can switch the power on and off at the proper times. I have the SATA going directly to my motherboard from the BenQ. I get to DOS prompt, turn on the BenQ, enter DosFlash, and it comes up and asks Y/N to resend. I hit yes, and then it gives a drive status of 0x72, not 73 and it pretty much hangs, no further input allowed besides Ctrl Alt Del. I can't use the 32bit on this machine as I am running Vista 64bit. So, I tried it on my other machine, which uses the Via 8237 chipset and have XP 32bit on it. I turn on BenQ, launch DosFlash32, and I don't get any "Resend" messages or anything. It just picks up the drive, it says VAD6038 and gives the option to Read the FW. I click that and it freezes on Reading Bank 0. I'm not one to usually post problems, but this time I am really stumped. Any suggestions?

Okay so I finally got my VT6421A pci card.  What drivers are best for it to read my benq in XP.  I think I'm going to download drivers from here http://www.viaarena....mp;SubCatID=117.  But I don't see the one I should use.  I thougt my card was non-RAID.

I could be wrong, but I think its best to not install the drivers.  Just PnP should work.

How you can see in which id port is connected the benq or another xbox360 dvdrom drive so you put that id port to dosflash16 1.3 beta.
And when it come the benq ixtreme hacked firmware?
A lot of thangs.
