DosFlash V1.3 Beta - Full Software Based BenQ Flashing
« Reply #75 on: October 23, 2007, 10:55:00 AM »

Well all previous versions did not work for me.

This one worked first time just by typing "Dosflash" without any ports or command switches...

Im using a Neo MSI mobo with Via 8237 Chipset smile.gif

If i cant without soldering then why it saws us that support these kind of chipset in readme file of dosflash 1.3 beta?

You know this program supports other dvd-rom units right? Those are chipsets it supports in general. I think we've been EXTREAMILY clear on it NOT supporting other chipsets for benq.

Ive got an intel ich7 chipset using a via vt6421a sata card and I cannot get dosflash 1.3beta to work o dump the firmware in windows or in msdos. Any tips its driving me nuts.
ASH

I successfully dumped my benq with ICH7 and VIA6421L by doing the following:
Boot into bios, disable sata controller.
restart with benq turned on
run dosflash manual command
Press Y at mtk question, and hit enter
Turn off benq, turn back on benq.
And it should automatically dump!

I've just used this mobo  http://www.biostar.c...nt.php?S_ID=148  and dosflash 32 to extract the firmware and toolbox4.5 to read the key.
So this mobo works smile.gif

Sorry for the english speling

That is a Nforce4.

To everyone in this thread posting pictures of chipsets and motherboards, i would like to make this loud and clear...

If the motherboard is a NFORCE chipset with native sata (e.g. nf3 or higher, dont think nf2 had sata?) then this software read/write will work. If you have a ICH  and a 6421 VIA, you should be able to dump in dos by disabling your sata controller and trying the described method in the readme).

Do not post links or pictures of the VIA 6421* series asking "will this work", because the answer is half a inch above this line. Those posts WILL be deleted.

Good idea, could everyone posting here with success and even those who are not successful to read the benQ drives, tell us youre computers chipsets and motherboard brand and if you did it with onboard sata/pci card(via)?? Thx, this could save some time for us who have not tried it yet!? smile.gif

lol smile.gif I've only asked that 3 times now!

Maybe in the future versions of dosflash can read/write benq drives another chipsets of via.
I hope this time is not too long.
Had anyone try to read/write to an benq drive with ich5 with no switch or any other solder thing only with the programm dosflash32(or 16) 1.3 beta.
If it did what is the results?

I have the Abit IG7-G (inteli865 ICH5) with the Intel 82801EB Ultra ATA... Sorry to ask but does anyone know if DosFlash will work with my on board SATA? If not i wanna get my order out for the right card ASAP!

In the readme for dosflash I see  "- Intel 82801EB (ICH5)" under where it says "the following chipset are support is added" so that makes me think im all good but i just wanted to make sure as im pretty excited to flash when iXtreme comes out.

Spent more time trying to get my benq dumped on VIA/ICH7 combo, found out the onboard sata controller definitly messes with things.

I successfully dumped my benq with ICH7 and VIA6421L by doing the following (for dos16):
Boot into bios, disable sata controller.
restart with benq turned on
run dosflash manual command
Press Y at mtk question, and hit enter
Turn off benq, turn back on benq.
And it should automatically dump!

I wont bother with dos32, because A, i dont have a IDE HD with windows installed, B, dos is good enough, and C, would probably be a waste of time because windows seems to interfer with the mtk unlock process with ICH boards.

....it already IS working with ALL VIA chipsets. WTH you talking about?

You will not be able to use this program, and likely NEVER, with just a ICH sata controller. This is just like the ms28 ...if you dont have a VIA card, your pretty much out of luck unless you want to solder. No straight ICH, SIL, etc.

Get a VIA.

Thanks, I've got the same setup as you so that helps.  I also have a switch wired to my BenQ at the moment.  Do you know if I can test this method with the switch still attached?  In other words, if I can leave the switch off and validate the process, then I can go ahead and solder my drive back to stock.

Hi everyone.

I'm just wondering, well i'm pretty sure it should work (just doublechecking), I have an Xbox 360 Elite with a Benq drive and i plan on using my girlfriends PC which has the motherboard (K8N-E Deluxe) in the link below this post.

My first question is if this should work or not (without the VIA-chipset that is)?

My second question is if it will work in Windows Vista 32-Bit? By using the dosflash32 that is.

The third and last question is; Do I boot the dosflash16 by selecting in my bios to boot from floppydevice and then go from there?

Appreciate any answers.

Regards

/Chris.

This is the motherboard I intend to use:

This method will work with or without the switch.

Theoretically, ANY motherboard should work with a VIA 6421 card (in DOS), so long as the sata controller is disabled.

With regards to VISTA, yes, but whether it will actually work is something you'll have to test. The way windows interacts with the chipset is different with every motherboard, and may or may not interfere with the mtk unlocking process.

I can't seem to get my firmware dumped.

Using nforce2 motherboard (si3112 onboard), 6421L card.
My port shows up as 9000. I have tried manual, auto dosflash16 with nothing else (hdd, dvd, etc.) connected to pc. I also disabled my sata in the bios. It shows the correct port but most of the time I get a 0kb bin. Every once in a while I get a 25kb file but it's no good.
dosflash32 just seems to hang up my computer (very slow mouse reaction until I turn my xbox off).
Got another pc (nforce 650i) I'm waiting on a video card for and will try with it.

any ideas before then?

Just got my Via VT6421A card in mail today, will be doing test dump tonight and will post results. For all the people that are asking were to get that card, got mine from newegg for $13.99 (Link to Buy Card) ordered on monday came today. Also in past when I flash I use an old IDE HD with striped down XP install and unplug all my SATA drives and DVDs (using raid so have no choice) So people having problems might try that. Will post my results in few also I have newer ICH9 chipset so will see how works, but if everything is turned off in bois shouldn't matter since using IDE and that via card.

Yes, disable both onboard IDE and sata. I had to disable IDE on my nforce4 board in order to get the onboard sata read correctly with dosflash.

Then, try the manual command. My VIA did the same thing as yours with my nforce until i disabled sata controller, perhaps your IDE is giving you issues to.

I have a nForce4 mobo and i didnt have to disable anything. I just disconneted all IDE devices) i only had 2xDVD drives connected)

Did the power on on drive
Run Dosflash
resend MTK vendor
turn BenQ drive off and turn on again after 2 secs

Read and Write was possible.

I also did my Sammy with this program smile.gif
