Use iPrep 101 0.0.2, it's the only one that works with the BenQ drives. Also, as I found out today, some USB Sticks aren't bootable. My Sandisk Cruzr Micro wasn't bootable, but my Lexar Jump Drive was. Test out a few sticks, maybe even Google which ones are bootable. Unfortunately, iPrep will still format your stick and "make" it DOS bootable, but it won't tell you whether or not the stick is actually bootable.

I hacked my friend's BenQ drive today with minimal delays and errors. Just took a few tries to get the turning on/turning off sequences right. I used DosFlash16 in DOS with iPrep 101 0.0.2. Great job to all of those who worked on this firmware!

I know that everyone on here is having great success but I only get a MTK vendor intro failed 3 different PC's and 3 brands of SATA. I do everything that is listed in the How to and watched the video. I never get to the point where it asks to resend the command.

Hate to be such a Noob here, but I have my share of sammy's and Hitch's without issue. And this looks so easy, it's just not wortking for me.

Any help other than "It's so easy" would be great

It's so easy wink.gif

just kidding.
But you could have given some more info.
What did you try? DOSFLASH16 under DOS? DOSFLASH32 under Windows? If you tried dosflash16, did you try the automatic or manual process and what sata chipsets have you tried?
you do know that flashing a benq without soldering requires via or nforce chipset?

Sorry for the lack of info.

I have been using a VIA 6421 I have also tried a nforce

I have tried dosflash16 in DOS, manualy the whole "dosflash r xxxx 1 a0 1 4 a:\orig.bin 0" thing the just plain dosflash16, and dosflash32 ibn winxp and Vista.

I have also used Iprep, win 98 boot disk, Xtreme boot maker, the NTFS cd thing to boot with.

dosflash16 just gives me the whole how to use this, and if I remove the 0 from the end I get unknown chipset

Yes I did know that it requires via or nforce, I have prob read every post in here before I posted just to make sure I had tried everything before I posted.

Thanks for the help

This is an excellent tutorial for flashing in dos and will serve you better than a video guide.

did you verify you have the right portnumber?
And / or did you flash another drive (samsung f.i.) with that card before?

You get the MTK vendor intro failed  error, it might be either a wrong portnumber you try to connect to, and maybe a broken pci card

I thought it might be the card but I have done a sammy this morning and it worked like a champ. I used msinfo32 and the iprep method of getting the port number (of course there the same number). I'll try another via card just to make sure.

I have to thank ICYCOOL for his tip.

I was trying in vain to flash a BenQ for the last week with no success.   I have an nForce 3 mb and VIA 6421 SATA card so I was definately ok for hardware.  I read every post on this forum having anything to do with the BenQ and followed the instructions to the letter and still had no luck.

Today, the only change I made was formatting my USB stick with Iprep 101 0.0.2  instead of using Iprep 2.  The flashing went smooth as silk after that.  Works like a charm on the first try.

I cant imagine why that change would make the difference in flashing BenQ, but it did for me.

So if you are having trouble flashing your BenQ, just keep trying different things.  Dont follow any one guide like it is set in concrete.  Read posts and see what has worked for other people, and try them out.

BenQ success - used:
nForce3 mb
VIA 6421 SATA card
Dosflash 16
boot from USB stick formatted with Iprep 101 0.0.2
