DosFlash V1.3 Beta - Full Software Based BenQ Flashing
« Reply #210 on: November 02, 2007, 10:43:00 AM »

First, I'm so sorry for my english, and i hope you can understand me, thanks.

My chipsets is Intel® 82801GB/GR/GH (ICH7 Family) Serial ATA Storage Controller
And no VIA Card or nForce chipset

SCSI:SCSI/RAID Host Controller

OK

I try to Soft Flashing the BenQ in DOS and in manual mode

First I input:
DosFlash r 0170 1 a0 1 4 a:\orig.bin 1
Display "if you wanna resend the mtk vendor intro cmd, press Yes" and I Press Y
And everything looks like good
/*****************
- after you pressed Yes the drive status is shown on the screen, it's something like 0x7F,
this will change during the next few steps
- turn on the BenQ psu and wait 2 or more seconds, status changes between 0x51 and 0xD1
- turn off the BenQ psu and wait 2 or more seconds, status will stay at 0xD1
******************/

But When I turned on the Benq again, the status is 0xD1 too,not 0x73

So I Failed,it looks like ICH7 not compatible to DOSFLASH 1.3 BETA

But the readme file says:
- the following chipset support is added
  - VIA cards
    - all VIA cards with a 6420 chipset
- SATA Controllers
- Intel 82801GB/GR/GH (ICH7, identical to ICH6)

Why i failed?please tell me!
Thank you very much!

Because ICH7 does work with with DosFlash, it just doesn't work with the BenQ.  Read up, all the info is here, mate.

Help !
Was 30 happy minutes playing Conan, then show a message: "Please clean the disk, restart console and try again"
Since then don´t read no one game... no original... no backup... nothing !!!
My impression is what his no try read, the console goes very fast to the dashboard and show "Eject", like if no was cd inserted.
Please, anyone did see some like this ? Maybe my drive goes down ?  sad.gif
Thanks

Indeed, your drive goes down.

Alright, we can add another successful flash:

ICH7 mobo with Via 6421 card, using dosflash 16 in auto mode.  I also had to keep sata enabled in bios for it to work.

Thanks for this thread.

why would this happen to him though? why would the iXtreme FW work fine at first but then after a while, NO games boot up anymore, original or backup? that would be awful..

Hey guys,

I have a "Intel 82801GB/GR/GH (ICH7, identical to ICH6)" and I'm going to buy a VT6421. I just wondering what is better for BenQ flashing? 6421A or 6421L.

Thanks!

I am hearing mixed success regarding the ICH7.

Are we sure it doesn't work with the BenQs?

I answered two different unrelated questions from two different users in one post, and you are simply confused.

Hi all,

I'm having big troubles trying to get my benq read. Here's a summary:

Machine 1
-p4p800-vm motherboard [ich6]
-via6421a [using the external port]
-on-board sata disabled [via windows as i dont have the option in bios]
-ide disabled, except hdd ide
-boot into dos, insert correct command and status numbers start toggling between x51 and xD1.
-switch off the drive, status static at xD1.
-switch on the drive, status still at xD1 but xbox light constantly flashing as though it being read though nothing happens.
-switch off drive and on again, status toggles between x51 and xD1. Cycle just continues.

Machine 2
-most probably a ich5
-via6421a [using the external port]
-no onboard sata
-ide disabled, except hdd ide
-tried dosflash32 first [without installing the via card]. press yes on prompt, turn off n on xbox, i get a constant flashing 360 light but not gui pops up.
-then tried thru dosflash16 and get the same results as machine 1

Things i've tried:
-360 powered on before pc
-internal via card port [does this have the same port address as the external port?].
-I checked msinfo32, first port # is listed as dfa0, i try this port number and get a x7F status that doesnt change. i try the second port # listed as df90 which gets me up to xD1. So i'm thinking that dfa0 [first port] is my internal port # and df90 [second port] is my external port number.

Any suggestions please? Anyone has similar probs? Pls help.

Thanks!

long story smile.gif

use the INTERNAL port! and you can check the portnumber in iprep. it's the fisrt four numbers from the deviceio

the portnumbers from each port are different, and you can also try to turn onboard sata on

I have an ICH5 and it doesn't work here (EDIT: Forgot to mention I did the "VCC" method). The 0xblah numbers kept going from one number to another constantly (I think it was 0x5F & 0x7F). I even tried different methods to see if it would work but no go.

I went ahead and bought a card from eBay which costs no more than $20  smile.gif

I'm having the same symptoms, with a nforce 3 chipset(no add-on card). I just ordered my pci card and will post my results. A few of the earlier posts indicate that nforce 3 should work, but it's not listed in the success stories so far.

for all of you having trouble seeing their drive in windows with dosflash32.

remember you have to use create a new shortcut for dosflash32 and add the -enabledrives options
c:\somehtying\path\DosFlash32.exe" -enabledrives

note - not to sure if the second executable does the job also ...never needed to try it.

If you use dosflash32 by itself it will hang ur pc.

i dont rally understand this can someone plaese expain it to me my pc is hanging as soon as i turn the drive on

When trying to read my fw using dosflash16 I get MTK vendor intro failed or unknown flash chip, in dosflash32 I get the vendor intro failed.

I am using a VIA 6421
What am I doing wrong here?
