Iprep 2.0 W/ Ms28 & Via Vt6421 Sata
« on: October 15, 2007, 08:06:00 PM »

Hi All,

I'm using Iprep and couldn't get it to detect the drive when botting off my USB flash drive. I always get "No device detected".

Here is my Sata card config:

Name   VIA VT6421 RAID Controller
Manufacturer   VIA Technologies, Inc.
Status   OK
PNP Device ID   PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3249&SUBSYS_32491106&REV_50\4&1C660DD6&0&38F0
I/O Port   0x0000DD60-0x0000DD6F
I/O Port   0x0000DD70-0x0000DD7F
I/O Port   0x0000DD80-0x0000DD8F
I/O Port   0x0000DD90-0x0000DD9F
I/O Port   0x0000DDA0-0x0000DDBF
I/O Port   0x0000DE00-0x0000DEFF
IRQ Channel   IRQ 16
Driver   c:\windows\system32\drivers\viamraid.sys (5.1.2600.520, 90.50 KB (92,672 bytes), 10/14/2007 9:16 PM)

I ran through the Geebee's tutorial for modding the mtkflash yourself and I got the following for my values:

06 11 49 32 A0 DD 00 DE

According to Geebee's tutorial it seems to be correct.

I ran Iprep to be sure but Iprep lists the value to be: 11 06 32 49 DD 60 DD 80. (see image: the image is cut off.. the last digits do read DD60DD80)

(IMG:http://memberuploads.xbox-scene.com/uploads/2007_10_15/21_56_34_iprep.jpg)

Is Iprep right or is it wrong? That would explain why I can't see the drive when running Idump.

Can anyone confirm please!

I had the same problem. Have you tried to disconect your HD from the motherboard, before you use MTKFLASH?
Sounds crazy, but after that I could find my SATA drive.

Brgds.

I always disconnect everything expect 1 cdrom from motherboard also if you have any other pci cards id get rid of those as well. Also are you following tutorial properly? is xbox powered on and connected when pc is botting?

I've been following Textbook's tutorial on using Iprep. I get to the part about running idump but my device isn't connected.

I though maybe that Iprep was adding the wrong values in the mtkflash which is why i wanted to confirm my numbers.

I've checked with Xtreme boot Maker and the device id shows the same as in Iprep so I guess it's correct.

I'll keep you posted once I try removed the IDE cable for the HD. I see some people have some luck with leaving the CDRom enabled so I'll try that as well.

I'm on my 2nd PC trying this....

I don't have a 3rd unfortunately. I do have a laptop and I have the xecture connectivity kit but I don't know if this will work with that.

Ok finally got it working.

Finally figured it out.... the VIA VT6421 card that I have is here:

(IMG:http://memberuploads.xbox-scene.com/uploads/2007_10_16/22_33_32_20-176-1C.jpg)

I was using the external connection and the internal connection. I connected to the back sata connection and I could read the drive.

I've done 2 MS28 drives following Textbook's guide.

Thanks everyone.

That's good to know, I'm in the process of sorting my desktop for the sole purpose of flashing and backing up games, I had planned to use the external port but if it doesn't like it then I guess I'll have to rethink putting that side access cover on it.

I used the other internal sata port and it worked fine on my MS25 (orig) and MS25 iXtreme so it's pretty safe to say that both internal ones work, I'll test the external one some day when it needs flashing again (maybe tonight, want to put quiet back on it) and post if it showed up or not.

OK, tried it in the external port and as soon as windows booted it said new hardware found (nothing was connected to the other end of the sata cable)... couldn't install it, thought it was the card acting up... I guess the external port on mine just doesnt work at all. I'll be sticking with one of the 2 internal ones from now on to be safe.

in order to use outter ones you need to change jumpers. I use the other ones on all my flashes

Jumpers? I honestly didn't know there were any on this card, I'll have to take a look in to that (need to remove it later anyway, Vista has decided to stop seeing it totally now - probably something to do with vista playing up on my pc and nothing works inc. device manager, time for xp again I think).

I can't recall receiving any instructions with my card, any info on these jumpers would be very handy however I am about to read up on viaarena to see if I can find anything out there.

This is the card I use http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...=rosewill%2b212
has 2 sets of jumpers for inetrnal and outer internal is default also for some reason for samsungs will only work on 1 of the 2 outer ones. hitachis I can use both.
