Replace A Benq Drive For A Hacked Hitachi.

I just buy a european halo 3 bundle that comes with a benq drive, after talking with some guys that flash dvd drives for xbox360, they said that they can send me a hitachi 78 drive already flashed, and i only need to replace the benq drive for the hitachi to play backups. Can someday tell me if this is true? Tanks.

It is possible, however it isnt plug and play.  You have to flash your benq key to your hitachi drive and spoof the version strings to report as your benq drive.  Without that, you will get E66 and will not boot 360 media.

Would you send him your benq drive before he sends you hitachi v78? If so,that's ok.If not,you still have work to do as Caster already mentioned.

i think i m gone chance the xbox 360 for an older model, this new have the new falcon board and hdmi, but it have the benq drive grrrr.

Why does everyone think having a benq drive is bad. It is better than a new Hitachi and soon you will be able to get a new hacked firmware for it.

The benq will become the new Samsung must have drives.

Is better than the hitachi 78? When you say soon , for how long? Because is almost one year since microsoft release benq and still today we dont see a firmware. About flashing do you think it will be like hitachi 79 to put in mod b or will be like samsung and other hitachis?

Yes, but up until a month or so ago, we didnt have an economical way to read the firmware from the drive.  The only way previous to that, was to have a $400 programmer.  There is no point in a firmware without a cheap way to read/write the drive.  

 

That being said, the firmware should be out within the next couple of weeks, assuming there are no snags.
