I have a VIA VT6421A. That used to work fine. But I have 3 Hitachi drives. a 78FK that died, a replacement 78FK from eBay, a 47DJ.
My friend had the 78FK that died, so I had an extra 47DJ around. I was able to use the VT6421A to dump all the firmwares and eventually get the 47DJ to spoof a 78FK with the right key and patched to play his backups.
He bought a new 78FK off ebay, so it wouldn't need to be spoofing. NOW, I can't for the life of me get my VT6421A drive to see ANY OF THEM. Using Slax or the Xeno connectivity kit, none get seen by Windows. In fact the card has a yellow ! in Device Manager (Device Cannot Start - Code 10)
I picked up a Sil3512 from CompUSA. I plugged in it, installed the drivers. Plugged in the 47DJ (That was spoofed) and it was detected (using Xeno - not Slax). I was able to dump the firmware multiple times. So when I went to flash the original firmware (to use in the original xbox it came from), I got a bunch of errors, and eventually, when it finished - the drive was bricked. Doesn't eject. Doesn't detect.
Any ideas on that?
Second, now its not detecting the new 78fk, so I can insert his original key from the original 78FK that died.
I'm at a loss. Using Firmware Toolbox 4.5(whichever is the latest in the usual place).
