Hi Folks,

i´m new here, but i need to say that you helped me a lot of times in the past, so thank you for that!!! You´re great!

Today i´ve got a bigger and for me unsolvable prob.

A friend of mine gave me his 360, which doesn´t wan to play any backup copies any longer, after he had inserted a new demo cd from a german xbox magazine.

I need to say that i flashed the drive by myself a couple of monthes ago.

I used a Slax Boot CD to bring it in Mode B and flashed it with Maximus-Garyopa-Xtreme FW 2.4 Stealth Firmware.

Everything was working fine with that Firmware, but when he was inserted that newer Demo-DVD, the drive were no longer able to play any backups. It sounds like it cant read the DVDs exactly but it reads the originals with no problems.

Today i tried to reflash the drive. First i restored it and then i flashed the drive again. During the restore and/or reflash procedure i got no error warnings from the setup.

I also tried to flash the drive with Ixtreme 1.2 rev. 2 Hitachi, but with the same result. No backups playable again. I am absolutely helpless with that issue.

Kernel and Dashboard have the version 2.0.5759.0 (spring update) . At least this is shown in the dashboard system menu. On my own box is the same version and it works fine with that firmware.

Need your help guys...again...TIA

Just wanted to give you a report of what i´ve tried today.

First i´ve found another post here, where someone solved the same problem in cleaning the lense of the DVD device. So i just tried this but without success.

After that i made a POT calibration as sugessted by MODA here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=517961

I regulated the POT to 3.0 kOhm, put everything together, but no changes at all.

Originals -> no problem , backups -> no way....

would it be a good idea to change the whole drive? Where can i get a sammy as spare part?

Can anyone definately say that this is NOT a result of a kernel update?

i am really at the the end of my ideas... please help me....

I believe the lens is gone. You can just buy the lens and swap it with the old one.
