I don't remember what was current when I started but I'd never even heard of emulation until the day I got my very first 'modern' PC 5 years ago. I was looking for a way to get it to read my old Amiga disks.

"Wait a minute... You mean to tell me this thing can play games from every system I've ever owned ever?"

By the evening of the same day I was hooked forever.

To get this thread back on topic, yes, one reason n64 emulation suffers on xbox is because of hardware limitations but the other reason is probably the one more at fault. The video plug-ins wthat surreal uses will just never measure up to the closed-cource pkug-ins available for the pc users.

I remember bleem too. I almost bought it just so i wouldnt have to buy a ps1 (i was full-on in n64 fanboy state at the time) but ended up folding on one because a gtraphics card that would've made it playable wouldve costed way more. Good idea on my part too. Bleem wasn't nearly as compatible as the developers wouldve led you to believe.

The video plugin gogo implemented in surreal xxx 4.9 was the latest rice plugin right? (6.x.x something??). What were missing is some good, up-to-date n64 emulator source code. That would pretty much equal surreal v2 (oohh, how I wish v2 would become a reality).

I was there on new years day when sparcade v 1.1 (or whatever it was) was released to the world.

Been lovin' it ever since.

Although decent Atari 800 emulators (for consoles and handhelds, that is) seem to be hard to come by.

Im pushin 21...feelin old as hell.

I remember when Virtual game station came out on mac (which i had at the time), and booted up FF7...played through the whole game until the battle before the final battle and it froze...i cried...

  now i can play it all the time on my xbox, oh the times have changed

On topic though, im just glad we have somethin to play n64 games on the xbox with...i just use it for mario kart and mario64 both of which work great for me

2 hit combo: In the same sense of playing Tekken 3 on Dreamcast, Perfect Dark should work on the Xbox. I don't want to play either in that case.
