Samsung Ms28's - E65 Error 65
« on: October 03, 2007, 02:15:00 PM »

I have read and read and still have no definitive answer to this problem.  So many people have had success with random little tricks of timing but nothing is working for me.

Ill tell ya what happened.
I have flashed about 20 sammys up until now, no probs.  On sunday I went to flash 3 more all went fine as far as i knew, read and flashed 100% one froze for a while which was strange... but started flashing again and 100% finished.  Put all back together and went to test, 1 works, 2 dont! The two "bricks" dont eject or spin up.  One shows E65 message and the other just stalls xbox on the big x logo screen before dash loads.

Ive checked the firmwares (i have origs) and they seem to have valid keys in them and the hacked firmware has the same key.... Ive tried reflashing umpteen times but it just hangs at Port **** in MTKFLASH, it recognises the SATA controller which is something but just wont flash it. on ESC it will normally say Status 00 or Status 80 depending on what way i have tried to reflash (bad flash 10 sec trick or just normal or the million other random ways i have tried).  What do both of these status codes mean?

Does the fact that it doesnt eject or spinup mean thats its dead and I need a new drive or could it just be a firmware problem.  Is there one answer to this, cos I ahve read so much different things out there, please someone shed some light on the matter.

Thanks

You can not brick a samsung drive unless you try break its parts down.

1-Get a new sata cable.
2-Try using internal connector of via card.Do not use exterior connection.
3-Boot 360 before pc
4-Boot with usb stick prepared with XBM.You can follow my tutorial.
5-After booting to dos type:
mtkflash E (E=erase)

try it with 10 sec trick. If pc locks up,try the same command again after booting properly. After that, flash it as routine.

I did 3 samsungs which looked bricked like yours. The magic is """mtkflash E"""

Edit reason:misspelling

Thanks for the quick reply by internal connector do you mean an internal via sata chipset rather than pci?  I am using a VIA 8237 onboard.

Ill give the Erase a go and see what happens, as long as i dont have to fork out for new drives ill do anything.  Ill let you know how i get on

Your welcome
If you have 8237,forget about int,ext thing. It's for via card actually. If pc locks up,try rebooting 360 then pc and try again.Be sure that i saved 3 samsung with mtkflash E which were not responding and ejecting.

Tried for ages there but im afraid still nothing, so annoying! I had it plugged into my NF3 card as well and it shows up in BIOS as TSSTcorpDVD-ROM TS-H943Ams28 but no luck with that chipset either. Just sits at port **** etc, no erasing or anything with any method I tried.  I shall have another go wif it tomo but in the meantime is there anything else anyone can think of? thanks

NF3 is not compatible with ms28.You should buy a via sata card for it
