Tried To Replace Sony Ddu1612 Never Works 4 Me
« on: July 28, 2004, 11:08:00 AM »

hi there peeps.

well 1st, sorry about my english i'm chielean and is too difficult to me find tuts in my language so gonna try to explain my problem the best i can.

1 month ago my philips dvd xbox drive wont read anymore even originals, reading tutorials around the web i found some models i could replace my old dvd to get it inside the box and not outside(thats looks horrible, but works), and the only 1 i can find in my country was this Sony DDU-1612.

i found the 74ls00 too with a good luck and cheapest well i tried to do the mod and solder the wires like the tuts says for my surprise when i finished and want to do the results i get the error 13 well i read around again and i check the jumpers error 7 this time, but seems like the pc dvd drive don't recive power and when i try to open it with the eject button(pc dvd) my xbox turn off well i decide to look the yellow conections again and i was wrong about the conections so i took the header pins of my old dvd and i made the conections again but this time the chip was fried (74ls00) i buy a new 1 and test again nothing happend again seems like the pc dvd does't recive power so i bored and i took all wires off and i plug with an y power the pc dvd drive was working and loads games fine but still looks horrible outside.

so i want to know

1.- if i plug the y power to the pc dvd drive with the conections inside (w,x,y,z,5v,vcc wires and the 74ls00 chip+ the yellow cable) could i fried, should i remove any wire to don't doit??

2.- i tried to use unleashX to open the try but looks like this use the yellow cable to send the command to the dvd so didn't work, is there any app to use the ide bus cable to open the try?

well thx in advance to any who can read this huge post and finish to read it.
i hope fix this to get the dvd inside.
