I Need Help Flashing My Ms25/28
« on: October 02, 2007, 09:39:00 PM »

Bought on ebay and the seller said it's a MS25 but I don't know if it is that or an MS28 because one program says its ms28 and labels says its MS25...

I try Dosflash32 and it says that I have a "MS28" but it says "MTK Vendor Intro Failed" even though I'm using it on a VIA 6421 chipset or whatever (I bought the card for the SATA shit)

Does anyone know why the MTK vendor is failing?

I did. It couldn't find my TS-H943A when I did everything step by step.

One question: is it possible that the person I bought it from bricked it? I've heard you can't really brick a Samsung... but just in case could someone do it?

Don't know why it's happening, but i had similar trouble with Dosflash.  I flashed an MS25 using Dosflash, but it locked up about a quarter of the way through.  After that, the drive was totally unresponsive to everything.  Dosflash kept complaining about an unknown flash chip and MTK Vendor Info failed, although it had taken a read of the original firmware before the flash.  I couldn't get the drive recognised by MTKflash either, even using the 10 second trick.  I eventually got hold of my brother's MS28 and tried hot swapping with that, but that didn't work.  The interesting thing is that Dosflash came up with the same MTK Vendor Info failed error on my brother's perfectly working drive.  Dosflash wouldn't read or write it.  I got my drive going again by flashing the original firmware from it onto my brother's drive, and then using that to hot swap with my drive in MTKflash.  Even now, with both drives on original, standard firmware, Dosflash will not read or write to either of them, it just complains that the MTK Vendor Info has failed.  I just can't figure out why as it read my drive BEFORE it screwed up and killed it, and my brother's drive has never been anywhere near Dosflash until i got hold of it.

I personally think that MTKflash is still the way to go with Samsung drives.  Dosflash seams to be doing something to the MTK Vendor Info which can lead to complications with a bad flash.

You can not brick a samsung drive unless you try break its parts down.

1-Get a new sata cable.
2-Try using internal connector of via card.Do not use exterior connection.
3-Boot 360 before pc
4-Boot with usb stick prepared with XBM.You can follow my tutorial.
5-After booting to dos type:
mtkflash E (E=erase)

try it with 10 sec trick. If pc locks up,try the same command again after booting properly. After that, flash it as routine.

I did 3 samsungs which looked bricked like yours. The magic is """mtkflash E"""

I wrote this message to 3 topics.HOWEVER,if this drive came with 360 and you don't have the key, please don't try mtkflash E.

Thanks for your help.

1. I bought this Samsung off ebay. I'm going to spoof it (I have the original key) because I screwed my hitachi.

2. Yes I'm plugging it in the right port on the inside. I double checked it with Dosflash32 (port is correct)

Why would the Erase command fix it? Just wondering.

Also instead of using the 360 power supply, I'm using the Blaster360 with molex from my computer..... Think I should go straight 360 power?

It wouldn't unless you had the key from it already. If you've never gotten the key out of it, erasing it would brick your entire 360 so I would highly NOT reccomend trying it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Have the original key from Hitachi47DJ.    Just need to put key in the new Samsung and spoof to hitachi47DJ but can't seem to read flash or write flash or anything.

I have RC-212 Via6421 SATA thing from Rosewill.

I had the same exact thing as you...took me a couple of days to flash it until I came across another post here
I used XBM

my drive label said ms25 but the firmware i extracted when I read it in toolbox it said ms28
the only way I got it to read and flash was as follows

after preparing your disk (i used a flopply disk) using XBM

1.Boot pc from floppy
2.on the dos prompt type mtkflash r /m orig.bin (etc)
3.as soon as you hit enter, turn on the xbox, the menu should now display (on mine it only game me one option since that unplugged everything else from my pc)
4.turn off xbox
5. select the xtreme option in my case it was 1.  As soon as you select your option, turn on the xbox and it should start reading.

same steps to flashing it...so far I have gotten three drives from ebay from the same vendor and this are the only steps I have been able to follow to get it to read/flash.

10 second trick has not worked on this drives from ebay...don't know why.

Ok here's what happens....

1st method I use: Via6421 RC-212 SATA card. I try to flash, it says "no device connected".  I have not gotten it to say "xtreme master" etc yet. All I've gotten it to do is fucking freeze after I do the 10 second trick, OR the turn on then press enter.

2nd method I use: My Intel D925XCV motherboard's SATA built in chip. So far I've gotten mtkflash to say "select drive 1 or 2" which is Xtreme pri master, and Xtreme pri slave.  No mattter which one I choose it just says "Port E00 - A0" or "port E00 B0" for master or slave. Then it does nothing... just sits there.... being a bitch...

I've tried MTKflash e on the first method, MTKflash copyright stuff comes up saying blablamtkflash written by whatever,,,, then freeze. Nothing.
I've tried MTKFlash e on the 2nd method and I still come up with "Port E00 - A0" or "port E00 B0".

A detailed explanation as to which method will be best, and how to CONTINUE through that method to get the stuff working would be GREATLY appreciated. I might even pitch in $10 paypal if whoever could help me got it working.

You're not listening. I CAN'T do MTKflash E because it freezes before I can do anything.
