Ixtreme 1.2c Quiet To Ixtreme 1.2 Fast
« on: October 02, 2007, 10:29:00 AM »

Hello,

I am thinking of flashing my ixtreme 1.2c quiet firmware for my Samsung MS28 to the fast firmware. Does anyone if I still have to use the badflash method when I already used it to flash it the first time?

Thanks in advance

If you had to badflash the first time, you'll need to do it again.

I don't get what you mean.  He says he used the bad flash method the first time he flashed, and he isn't sure whether that's a one-time thing or if he has to do it that way every time (which he does).  It was a simple question with a simple answer.  Didn't I answer it?

No, you didnt.   You gave a misleading/wrong answer.  If you currently have iXtreme firmware on your drive, which he does, you can use the 0800 disc to disable firmguard, which will allow you to read/write to the drive normally.  No bad flash method is needed, however, it is still the easiest way to read/write the drive.

So I should have said "you either need to use bad flash again, or the 0800 disk to disable firmguard."

Given that he's asking the question, and that he's done bad flash before, using bad flash seemed like the easiest answer.

I still fail to see how fredfunk answered anything.

Guys if he already flashed a ms28,he must have either via 6421 sata card or via 8237 onboard sata chipset. In both cases ,he doesn't need 0800 disc since clicking bad flash method in XBM and trying 10 sec trick works very well.

Yes, we know.  But toddler stated, "he has to do it that way every time (which he does)", which I was correcting.  I stated that the bad flash method was the easiest and would use it if you had a VIA.

All-in-all, just to clear up any confusion, the 10 second method is your best/cheapest option (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
