Idump Hangs After Selecting Xtreme Pri Master
« on: September 24, 2007, 04:07:00 AM »

This is really weird and stupid. I can't find anyone else with a problem like mine. I boot with the ntfs4dos CD and cd to my IPREP folder, then I run the iDump command with my serial number. It gives me 3 drives, one is an IDE drive I have hooked up, one is XTREME Pri Master, and the other is XTREME Pri Slave. The slave does nothing, but if I hit the primary master one, the light on the front of my 360 starts blinking. iDump never moves a muscle, it says the port number, and the cursor blinks and just sits there. I've tried the 10 second trick, even though this is the ms25.

Originally, I had the original Xtreme firmware when you had to hex edit the stuff yourself and mtkflash it and all that good stuff. I decided I didn't wanna get banned from Live so I re-flashed my orig.bin back onto the drive. I'm currently running the original firmware, and it's been about a year since that happened, haven't gotten banned from Live.

Any suggestions? This is the same mobo and SATA chipset I used when I originally flashed my drive, and it worked then. What should I do?

Thanks in advance,

Have you tried turning off your 360 before you select the Xtreme Pri Master??

Turn off 360, hit button 1 for xtreme pri master and then power on 360 using the eject, no need for a 10 second count on the ms25's.

Hope that helps

I have the exact same problem!
I've tried with boot usb created with iPrep and XBM 3.6 but the same problem happens in both!
I tried turning off the 360, turning it on again, nothing seems to work..
If you find the solution please post it here!

Thanks a lot.

Yeah I tried turning it off and then selecting the disk, then turning it back on. I've tried even the 10 second trick, because I was desperate mostly, even though I knew it wouldn't work. I'm going to try flashing it with some other method...like maybe the slightly outdated Toshiba-Samsung 360 Autoflasher 3.2...then upgrade from that maybe. I'm not sure, all I want to do is play Halo 3. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Wow okay so I found the original Xtreme 33 boot floppy I used... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Um, mtkflash works just fine on there. Maybe it's my ntfs4dos disc? I'm thinking I need to find a way to put the iPrep files on a floppy if possible...because I just successfully backed up my original firmware with the floppy using the mtkflash r /m orig.bin method. I did try that on the ntfs4dos CD...maybe I should replace the mtkflash in my iPrep folder with this one since it works? It could be that the older mtkflash worked with my chipset and the one in the iPrep folder doesn't...I'll get back to you on that.

I can't even put my old firmware... It just hangs on Port Master/Slave  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
I guess I'm screwed...

PROBLEM SOLVED! Use iPrep to create a disc, same way you would as normal, but use a floppy instead. That worked for me. I just made a bootable floppy with iPrep and it worked just fine. Maybe it was a problem with ntfs4dos, but I doubt it, since it ran other things just fine. Woo hoo for ghetto floppies!!!

Yes you can buy usb floppy drives, but if your gonna do that you might aswel buy a 1 or 2 gig usb Flash drive, there a lot more reliable than floppy disks.

Yeah I got a weird "BOOTMGR IS MISSING" error when I tried booting from my flash drives (I tried three different ones, all formatted with a different DOS startup disk creation tool). It bugged me a lot.
