Why Does My 360 Turn It Self Off When I Try To Flash It?
« on: September 24, 2007, 12:11:00 AM »

i have a 78 drive and i can get slax to work,,,i open the firm ware tool box and can connect to the drive but but then my 360 just turns off
i don't think it has anything to do with what point I'm at with flashing the drive because if i do nothing it will still shut down in about 3 minutes
i have tried 3 different systems and they all do the same thing

Because you have the video lead unplugged!  The the component cable unplugged your xbox will auto shutdown.  However don't plug it in to flash as a precaution for the error code(E64??? was it) being sent to the cache and possibly reported.  Just make sure you flash in this 3 minute period.

didn't you read any tuturials at all???
well, good luck bricking your drives then...

to answer your question,
you have to push eject the 2nd or 3rd time to keep the disc tray closed, with the hitachi drives being in mode b, they tend to auto. eject themselves after the tray is closed.

if you read the "textbook" tut.  this should be explained clearly.
