Error Restoring Hitachi 59d
« on: September 15, 2007, 02:46:00 PM »

I am trying to update an xbox i flashed for a buddy a while back.  I have the drive in mode b (verified cuz i can see it in windows and it takes 2 presses to open the drive bay.  In order to do it i am first trying to restore the firmware.

From what I understand all i have to do to restore the firmware is run the restore H (where h is my drive) in the ixtreme 1.2 directory.  I do this and get an error that says:

Thanks for the reply.  I tried it in safe mode in XP x86 in safe mode with the same result.  I then tried in Vista Ultimate x64 in both normal and safe mode and i got an incompatibiliy error.  Is there another way to do this or am I limited??

not sure it is your problem, but make sure the FW is not buried 10 level down of directory, put it under the root
C:\X-LG

it was in c:\xbox.  I also have tried it on a via chipset and nforce 4 SATA chipset.  Both give same error.

I'm getting a similar error on a 47 spoofed as a 59, but it sends me the "there are four things that could be wrong" even before it shows me if it's restoring a sector at all.

i figured it out. there is something wrong with the restore.bat itself. i used Hack360 ixtreme 1.2 its in the usual places. it worked great and after i restored i went ahead and reflashed with the regular ixtreme 1.2 rev2 sense fix firmware and all is good. so someone needs to let C4EVA know theres something wrong.

Thanks for the tip.  I was giong to try this but as i was messing with the drive and I can't get the drive to eject (this was before I started as I put off doing this for a while).  I was reading and it looks like i fried the drive.  Is this correct?  I am having problems getting in mode b and I did the 2 wire trick and it looks like this may have fried the drive.  how can i found out forsure that I fried it?

Also If it is fried do I need to get the key off it?  If so how can I do that?
