Hey Vampx...
how about a faq on how to make an emu boot disc, been seeing a lot of these (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

> How to Make A Bootable Emulators Disc <

Heres a quick guide...

1.Create an "XISO"
2. Aquire Qwix here..
3. Open QWIX select create iso
4. Where it says sorce, click on local folder then press the button with the 3 dots.
5. Select your Emulator folder wherever its located on your PC, then press OK.
6. Click on create ISO.
7. Now burn it so its compatible on your XBOX. "Flips" guide on how to burn xisos using Nero

please feel free to make any revisions necesary vampx. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

edit: also I've seen some people have problems where there roms dont show up when they use Surreal, Fbaxx, or Mame.
One of the problems is that they forget to erase the previous version of the emulator and just overwrite them as well as forgetting to erase the tdata folders. Tdata locations...

surreal: E:\tdata\a64fea57
Mame:E:\tdata\ 4d414d45
Fbaxxx: E:\tdata\ffff0504\

also they need to make sure all there ini point to

CODE
d:\roms

It's already covered in one of your renaming faqs, rather general in xbox terms but I think for people who don't realize they need to rename things there needs to be a reminder of the lmitations of FATX on the front page of the new pinned thread. Questions that would be avoided with this knowledge seem to come in the same way you would expect hives to.

Could put a link for the FAQS for the psx emu in xports forum. [or just link a bin/cue tut - and mention you can not run directly of cd]. I think you have answered this several times yourself.

Seems trivial but it seems to be asked alot.

I also think a tut on using programs to check your mame roms would be handy [eg clrmame - or a permant clear explanation as to why this is necessary]. This also seems to get asked often.  Old but useful LINK

even if either of the above is still asked often after the thread changes, we will have a quick place to refer them to.

doh! I didn't read far enough into your great big answer thread, I see you already have a tut for clrmame pro

My apologies.

*** that thread is already pretty sweet by the way. So many people have contributed over the years, its amazing.

Is there a list anywhere of what games work better in surrealxxx 4.95 or 4.9 opposed to v1.  That would be nice cause its kinda a pain to try all of them and the surreal list is from 2004

well surreal 64 v1.0 has better compatability anyways, 4.9 and 4.95 work better on only a select few titles

In my experience I've found that the later versions of Surreal XXX are best for 128 MB Xboxs.  You get the graphical fixes of the later Rice plug-ins without all the stuttering found on 64 MB XBoxs.

Well 128mb upgrades are hard to find these days anyways.

Be sure to add something about 3d games not working with MAME. Someone asks this all the time.

It'd be nice to have a linky to the xbox emulation repository in your new answers thread.

It's a great place to get screenshots, box cover scans, config files, skins, and even cheats for all of our favorite emulators.

thanks!
