I would suggest cutting each trace twice - about 1mm or so apart. By doing this you can actually remove the bit in the middle of the 2, and then you know its cut properly. It saves you from feeling that you have to apply heaps of pressure with the knife - and risk slipping!

I think we're hoping that the new ixtreme for benq (when released) will have an enable function to allow re-flashing without having to re-fit the switch?
If not I think the ideal way would be to fit a double poll switch to simulate the traces being cut - and a single poll switch to allow for the flashing.
If the time comes and we still need the switches I will make a tutorial on fitting 2 switches so that you dont need to open and solder every time.
