Ok now I am every sorry that these are suck nooby questions but I have a BenQ dvd drive I have a firmware error code so I decided I will mod it. i just need to know what I need, what I need to do, and basically everything else in between. Ok so its a lot but I figured if anywhere would know it would be here  biggrin.gif  I am good on a soldering iron and have experience in everything 360 besides modchips and F/W. Any bit of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Annihilator

use textbooks guide for hacking 360 its what I started out with and its well up to date on all drives ( excluding the new liteon of course  !!!      LOL   rolleyes.gif     >>>>> hes good but NOT THAT GOOD >>>> YET ???? )
just google for it OR GO TO WWW.360MODS.NET

I presume your referring to   flashing it ???

Mainly bringing this back up for an update.

Will the release of this new "Magic Code" cracker be able to circumvent this procedure?

I assume once the ATA Magic Patch has been applied, you can simply proceed as if you'd soldered the drive.

RiceCake: that is the intention.... The Benq_Un_Lock should work with any Sata controller that supports legacy mode... The only "difficult" bit is figuring out the contoller port, as this is not displayed in MSinfo32 like the the command port which you should be familar with from iPrep.

Once the drive is unlocked it can be dumped in windows using Dosflash32.... Make the iXtreme f/w by saving the dump in the Benq iXtreme ?x folder of choice as orig.bin....

C:\....\Benq iXtreme v1.41\8x\orig.bin

then double click "Make iXtreme firmware.cmd" and the flash with Dosflash32 selecting the newly created file

C:\....\Benq iXtreme v1.41\8x\ix14.bin

no soldering involved.

You're looking at some old thread, good job at resurrecting old info.

Jungleflasher's 1.51 release has been working for BenQ drives... so yes the new one (1.55b) will also work.

I've been reading the sticky Tutoriall thead about flashing drives. It led me here but I want to know how long have people had their drives flashed and if they've ever been banned from a flashed drive. I've already done the RBJTech X-Clamp Mod and saved my 360, as well as at the 120GB HDD mod. I want to attempt this mod but want to know what I should look out for to make it least possible for a ban.

I know preventing a ban is impossible but just want a heads up. Tks.
