Hitachi Sense Fix for ixtreme

If any of you have had the following error flashing your hitachi:
"DeviceIOControl() failed 0"
"failed to execute flasher (sense: [xx/xx/xx])"

Then this is the fix for you!
The error is not caused by the orig bats, but caused by the way CMD negotiates the commands within the bats!
This update should solve bad sector calls, during the first attempt of flashing (or) restoring of the drive!

If these errors are witnessed throughout the restore/flashix process,it may result in an unsuccessful flashix/restore attempt, excessive read errors, and/or cause bad flash scenarios to occur! eg. "3RLOD" after flashing!

Until now, running flashix/restore.bat multiple times or until the absences of errors is witnessed, was the only sure fire way to get 100 compliance!

Note: I have noticed that if certian sectors are not flashed (by old batch files) things may appear to be ok, but certian games will cause your system to lockup. This process eliminates those mistakes and possible lockups.

And remember, *always* restore before flashing!

I would like to note that I have seen this game 'lockup' occur in backups of madden 08, in which specific sectors if are unflashed or flashed improperly, will cause the game and/or system to lock.

And kudos to Lahey, who spent quite a long time completely re-writing the batch process from scratch to fix these problems (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

It said those when I was restoring but I still flashed it after and it Flashed 100% but it received Disk Read Errors and Open Trays as my Customer said.

So I could just Restore and Flash normally with the new Ixtreme?

Hello
When I was restoring I had that error but then I flashed and all went ok, no errors and 100% complete.
Should I restore and reflash again?
Thanks a lot

I've had those errors plenty of times during flashing... but Im not, nor have I had any problems with lockups or freezing. I guess this would just be for folks who are having said problems?

I had this issue when restoring... and flashing, but... it hasn't caused any problems yet. I haven't played too many games since, but I had completely beaten BioShock with said problem, as well as played a bit of monster madness. Oh well, I hope I can get to mode B on the old ixtreme without much trouble, Slax never worked for me. Let's hope I remember how to do the old two wire trick right.

need serious help, the errors mentioned above occurred when restoring to orginal fw after an hour or so past. My stupid a$$  for what ever reason figured that i was having computer problems so before I attempted to re-attempt the restore I figured to restart my computer. Having said that, you guys know what I'm about to say next: My computer doesn't recongize the hitachi drive 47d, the drive doesn't eject, error 65 when plug to tv. So, after days of reading, stressing, reading and some more streessssssiiiing. I am politely asking what should I do next? I have serveral ideas but I do not want to mess things up even more! Please give me a strong solid idea Thanks a mill guys

Well, I think this release works just as it's supposed to, from what I can tell anyway. I am however unable to use the packaged restore.bat

What is the Hitachi drive letter?

   k

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

RESTORING DRIVE k:\ HITACHI V.59b FIRMWARE..

Restoring 00/11 sector 90033000 (UnStealth)...

---------- RES.BIN

---------- RES.BIN

---------- RES.BIN

ERROR: Hitachi DVD drive is NOT restoring..

WARNING: One of FOUR4 things could be wrong

#1: Shut-down all your back-ground programs
#2: Windows is in-compatible, try SAFE MODE
#3: Your DVD drive is not a working version
#4: Start mode B with DVD disk in the drive

===========================================

ARE YOU SURE DRIVE "k" IS THE HITACHI DRIVE

What is the Hitachi drive letter?

I wasn't able to restore, or flash that part, res.bin with the previous version either, hope it's not too important. Hopefully the next restore.bat won't be so picky... or at least ignore it like the previous one did. (I do get the I/O error when restoreing 10b/11, I hope that's not bad).

But flashing works fine, besides the mentioned res.bin, it worries me, but not too much.

@trealnyce, I've found that it's more effective to flash, like I got fewer I/O errors when the drive was opened while flashing... I really don't know what that is or is not supposed to do, but it helped me. Try restoring that way then flash again with this version.

MetalRampage:

It appears that you are using an older version of the .bats, please update your files with the RC2 version.

MD5's should be:

- RESTORE.bat = df1281f1d3ce8bf9858904b848971b0b
- FLASHIX.bat  = 0613093138aa70e0ab0f11ded68829d7

Furthermore, res.bin is not a fw sector, so no worries!

Good luck!

No... as I said... I have had the problem with restore.bat for a while, not able to restore res.bin.
But I was specifically talking about the new one packaged in this very release. That's where my log comes from.
If that first part 00/11 sector 90033000 (UnStealth) isn't important, then alright, I'm tired of trying to mod this thing anyway, I'll just close it up and forget about the details.

Thanks.

Huh ? I mean.. huh ?

I always read the readme accompanying the hitachi flashers and it always said that you don't have to worry about errors. All sectors will be checked anyway, again and again, until flashing is 100%. It will not exit before that.

And now.. for the first time, since the release of the first hitachi flashers.. it appears (or so it is said in the message on the frontpage) that these flashers could even have brought about the 3RLOD ?

Is this for real ?

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy for the efforts put into this rewrite of the batch files, but this seems to be a SERIOUS f***up by the almighty hackergods (whom I of course can't thank enough for all their hard work, but still) ..

Switch on your 360. Eject.
Take out the power cable of the 360 with tray open.
Put power cable back in.
Turn on 360.
Eject and open a few times.
Your drive is now in mode B.

Beats the two wire trick by a mile smile.gif

p.s. This only works if your drive is already flashed (which is the case with your 360).
