European/norwegian Xbox 360 Elite
« on: August 24, 2007, 05:41:00 AM »

Yepp, my day just got worse. After enjoying an Platinum 360 with a beautiful Samsung for almost a year, i decided to switch to Elite because it's so 31337 (no, not really). Anyway, got it today. Opened it quick. First thing I was supposed to do was to modify the firmware, when I removed all the screw, the view of an BenQ VAD6038 suprised me to death.

But one of the good things is that I got the new cooling system! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Haven't gotten time to try it yet, I'm going to put it back together now and report if it's so silent as everybody claims it is (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm really depressed, I was supposed to enjoy my legit backup of Bioshock, Forza Motorsport 2 and Gears of War all weekend, now I have to play Dead Rising, Guitar Hero 2 and Saints Row instead.
So, any news on the BenQ firmwares?

Why can't you play the legit versions of the game you mentioned instead?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Because I'm tired of buying games, destroying them with scratches etc.
It's 100% legal playing backups in Norway, as long as you own a copy, and I do, but since I've been playing them all on my Samsung, most of them is borrowed away (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well, steal back time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/muhaha.gif)
But, still, that isn't the point. The BenQ drive has arrived (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

BTW, my manufacturing date was 5th August.

I was in my local PC World (UK) today and asked if they had any Elite's.  The guy came back with one and I had a look on the box - it said batch 0725.  I read some posts this morning and they said I had to get 0709 or 0710 to guarantee a Hitatchi V78.  I told him to leave it and I may be back tomorrow.

I already have a 360 Premium with a Samsung MS25 which I intend to swap into the Elite - then sell the Premium with the Hitatchi in it.

Do I HAVE to get a V78 to mod it, or can a V79 be done now?   I doubt there will be any V78's in the UK stock if the launch ones are dated 5th August?

I'm sorry I struggle to see how it's legal to own a backup copy yet you can't own the original or why would you have posted:
