to clarify: if you don't leave it soldered in, it won't be possible to update your drive anymore...

I'm not sure if that's clarified any of the questions that have been asked.

As far as I can see:-
Both mods (Maximus and Infectus), if fitted, let you flash a 0079 drive.
With both mods, if removed, you cannot flash the drive any more.
With both mods, if refitted, you can flash the drive again.
BUT
Maximus' mod, if removed, can be fitted to a different drive and used to flash that (then removed and fitted to another, and another, and so on).
Infectus' mod, if removed, can NOT be fitted to a different drive.

If you want to flash lots of drives, use a Maximus mod, if you only want to flash one drive, use an Infectus mod.

Is this correct?

Infectus' mod, if removed, can NOT be fitted to a different drive. <= not true, can be fitted in all drives, but I wouldn't suggest removing it because customers would like to update their drives, wouldn't they?

ok now, once for all:

IF YOU REMOVE THE MOD, YOU CANNOT FLASH YOUR DRIVE AS THERE IS A PROTECTION WHICH PREVENTS YOU FROM EXECUTING CODE!

The reason why that's stated is because modshops will think "Oh! 10 bucks for a mod that I can reuse on every system I mod? Nice." - well think again, because customers would be super pissed if they want to update their firmware and they're not able to...

But you can use the mod for as many drives as you want with for unbricking as it does not affect the protection (remember GaryOPA/Birdie 59)

Enough questions about that???

Well i your worried about cost, make your own.

Check out the Xecuter XHM source released a while ago. Its most likely what the maximus passkey is based on (given its the same chip, crystal, and connections)

Oh and a CPLD is much better at patching on the fly, and a MCU. See the problems with the Xecuter XHM.

So you have proofs that I based my code on XHM or its just your imagination?

Ad yes, CPLD is probably better for other (more complex) task, but if the patching can be done with cheaper hardware why not?  (by the way, the connections that you are refering are the standard for the chips, there are not too many ways to connect this chip)

I dont know about XHM experiences, never tried myself.

Sorry to have offended you, as our conversation before, i will let this be.
Good luck on your software and hardware.

But one thing I must say, a MCU+Crystal is not cheaper than a $1 cpld.
You are correct in that wiring can change, but with 32 pins theres many ways ;-)

I placed an order on their website for the chip yesterday, it says that I have to send them a copy of my ID and credit card, do I really have to do it or will they send me without it since I live outside Europe ?

Ok I seem to be confused like many others. I am trying to find and a xbox 360 elite with a 0078fk drive. I've decided that this is going to be near impossable. So I'm fine with getting an 0079fk or 0079fl. Will either of these key things work for the fl drives (because that is what I'll most likely run into). Thanks in advance...also I live in the U.S. if that makes a difference...don't think it does...but just stating it....
