Sounds like the same story as mine.

Do you use xdvd mulleter to check that stealth is enabled on an image?

And also those which I didn't stealth - would I expect to see the game boot like they were in a dvd player i.e say that "the game needs to be run in a xbox360"? as I tried an old game and it now does this.

Thanks
Dan

Guys, can you help me out here?

I need to flash a 78 drive, that has already been flashed with xtreme 1.6.

I managed to connect the drive and do a dump of it, but I don't have the original fw (original.bin file).

What confuses me is that the readme for toolbox 4 says:

- Added:     Option to Restore Original Firmwares based on any dump you have

But on the tutorials.txt it also says:

To "upgrade" without restoring:

- Launch Fw Toolbox and Open your Original.bin file (the original that comes
   with the drive).

 - MAKE SURE THE DETAILS SHOWS AN FULLY ORIGINAL FILE, if labels as "Spoofed"
or "XTREME" appear on the details then IS NOT AN ORIGINAL FILE.

To RESTORE:

To do a Restore on Hitachi 78 and above you will need the original.bin
file that should be readed on the first installation. On future versions
of Toolbox new features will be added to skip the need of having this file
but ATM you will need it.

On the other hand I've been told you just load up the dump you have, then go to:

Tools---> Recover Lost Original File

And that's how you obtain a valid original FW for your drive.

So am I just confusing things and while you do need the original.bin file, if you don't have it you can still do this but not in one step  (which is what maximus meand on the .txt when he says:

 "you will need the original.bin
file that should be readed on the first installation. On future versions
of Toolbox new features will be added to skip the need of having this file
but ATM you will need it. ")

That is, if I do the restore option, and THEN start the steps the tutorials say am I OK ?

Thanx!!

I hope someone has seen this happen before;

I flashed my 47DH drive using the toolbox and it looked like it ran the process successfully.  After putting the drive back into the Xbox now when I try to open the drive it says, "opening."  If I push it again it says, "closing" then "reading" but the drive never actually opens.

I've tried restoring it back to the original using the restore.bat file but I have the same results.  The toolbox is able to open and close the drive so I'm hoping I didn't brick it.  This is my first attempt at flashing a drive.

I used the diygadget to get the drive into ModeB, FYI

Thanks!

I use Xbox Backup Creator to check stealth.

Not sure what you would see ona  non stealth game tho... probably the video or the message you have written.

Anyway - just backup the ones that dont work again.... and reburn with stealth.... should be all good to go.

Did you get an answer to your question? If not, can anyone shed some light on this? I am in exactly the same pos. Have bought a second hand xbox 360 and the previous owner lost the orig.bin file.

yes u need the original bin its the correct way to do it. u can also just get the key from youre spoof firmware and just qet and original bin from another 78fk drive and write youre to it and it will work.

Please don't listen to this advice.

The 78s DON'T all have the same FW, there are variations.

Just use the recover FW option in toolbox 4. It recreates your original FW and you're set.

Worked fine for me.

When you read the firmware from your drive and use the tools menu to create hacked firmware Toolbox creates the hacked firmware from the firmware you read from your drive.

is there a good tutorial for toolbox 4.6 the one supplied seems a bit vague in areas especially as I dont have the original.bin and I understand  this program can recreate this from my current older extreme firmware
but theres no instructions supplied with the readme on exactly what to do ? I have a 78 hitachi drive and
textbooks mega tutorial pdf doesnt appear to cover details on using toolbox 4.6 ?
thanks in advance  smile.gif
