Long story short - My computer froze 3 times when I was applying the hacked firmware to my Hitachi 78fk. I never turned off my console, but obviously had to restart my computer. I did restore my firmware back to the original (which would work like a charm every time) before flashing it to the hacked firmware which would freeze my computer up. It eventually flashed successfully thank goodness, so now I'm at iXtreme 1.2 and all my back-ups and originals work. Is it because I didn't switch off my console that I didn't brick my 78fk drive? Or am I just freakin' lucky? Please shed some light on this matter because I've been trying to search the internet for this answer and no luck... Thank you.

P.S. How do I check that this new firmware is working as it's supposed to (like not booting unstealthed copies) if all the games I have made backups of have been ripped with my Kreon drive? Besides getting a copy of an unstealthed game or removing the ss/dmi/pfi sectors from the ISO (DL discs aren't cheap - well, not yet).

Light has been shed on this matter. It was shed quite vibrantly and straightforward in the post directly above yours. The answer is right there. You even quoted it. *confused look*
If you are really eager to test it, take a invalid pfi/dmi/video data, and patch it to the iso you've created with your kreon drive using xdvd mulleter. I cant post the site on the forums here, but you can reach it by visiting #fw on efnet, IRC.
Why you would want to waste a disc, when you are making the disc's yourself using the kreon method, beats me. Its pretty fully proof.
