Awesome; not only is ZSnes my favorite SNES emulator, but I've been -really- discontent with the selection of SNES emulators for Xbox. None of them have the functionality of Xport's work, and I'd really like to see one with lots of features (or at least the ability to hack the RAM for cheats and such).

Minor weird stuff: Both Megaman X 1 & 2, possibly 3 have this weird effect when you start the game from the title screen where little parts (real small) of the logo won't dissapear correctly until the opening screen or password screen loads. Again, very minor.

X2 & X3 both seem to run a little smoother than X1 but it could be my imagination since all 3 games stay at 60/60 very consistantly. The opening stage of X1 seems to just be a bit slow when the action get intense but then again that's before you get the dash boots and my mind likes to play tricks on me a lot. I haven't beat any of the 3 games yet but when I get a change I'll go right through them.

X2 doesn't have a problem with the 1st Serges battle that it did in xSnes9x where his flip attack would turn him into what I can only describe as a graphical black hole. all 3 games along with Mortal Kombat 2 seem to have much better sound, espicially MK2 so  happy.gif  for that.

Super Mario World 2 was well but I haven't dug into it much. It does seem to have a problem loading sometimes. The emulator will start but the game won't. Exiting and reentering fixed this everytime.

I appreciate this release very much.

Also it may be worth mentioning that I haven't tested this on my main tv, just the small one next to my computer, seems like there's always a world of difference between them so I may need to do more testing in there which will slow down my overall progress of testing things out.

Do you mean displayed at the same time or one that cycles?

Most likely a cycling one as with Xport's newest emu's.  However if you had any good ideas on how to layout the screenshots in the skin and make it look halfway decent, then go for it.  I'm assuming it might be a bit memory intensive to load multiple shots at once, but I could be wrong.  The two main things people want are box fronts and screenshots.  Cart scans, box backs & title screens are just there for the nostalgia.  My idea would be this:  If multiple shots at once are possible, then move the current preview pane up to the top where the SNES logo is, and possibly scale it down just a hair.  Then directly below that have the screenshots display.  So at the top, box fronts, box backs and cart scans would cycle (they're all the same size, so nothing will get streched/warped), and below screenshots and titles would cycle.  Considering you've cleared the biggest hurdle already, it should only be minor tweaking here and there.  Only other thing I have is to possibly stretch out the rom selection column a bit, as it cuts off a lot of some rom names; that or have the long names scroll as Xport's does.

Looks like i can't have multiple directories in my Roms folder.

I have my roms in alphabetical order. Roms/#/ A/ B/ C/ etc

The browser thinks my folders are games.

Hope to see this issue resolved in the next release.

Thank You.  pop.gif

I definately concur. nes was smart enough to keep the naming scheme of xsnes9x, so you can keep only 1 set of roms and previews by simply naming the xbe's differently and pointing your dash directly to them.
Folder support is definately high up there on the list of "must-have" functionnality.
I've simply put the usa set in /roms directly for the time being, but even more important than separating letters,   keeping translated / PD / beta / etc roms separate is a must.

I do love idea, but do you know if there's any such collection of snes screenshots? the only one i've been able to find is front-box scans/pictures, and even then it's only for the USA set.

Thanks, it works great. The sound is MUCH better here than on xSnes9x. My main (and only) complaint with xSnes9x was that the sound was too jumpy, but it's perfect here.  smile.gif

When I heard the words "Known Issues" I was like.. Oh no, here we go.  But from what it sounds like they are very minor and the emu seems pretty complete.

Can't wait to kick the tires!

He surely said the same..

I haven't actually tried the emulator yet, but perhaps an option to move the exit button off the right analog stick? I use a street fighter anniversary controller for emu's and it doesn't have them. Starting games work fine, but I can't exit them. Assuming it's the same issue as xSnes9x that is, otherwise I can't wait to try this out later.

Chron Johnson has made a screenshots/box art pack all in one, where all of the US games have box art, and the rest have screenshots.  After seeing the box art displayed in ZSNES, it was blurry and I thought that maybe the emulator needed some kind of filter for them.  Then I looked at the original files, and saw that the screenshots are all there, but they are very tiny and of lousy quality.  I'm going to attempt to make a completely brand spanking new SNES art set from scratch.  When trying to fill in the blanks for my Sega Genesis set, I've found a lot of sites out there that have a lot of HQ scans, so I'm going to try my hand at making a all inclusive HQ SNES set.  I've seen quite a bit of Pal boxes out there, so I should be able to get a wide spectrum of art.  Go to http://xbox.nugnugnug.com for our art packs.

nice release, i think a rom browser (like xports) is needed.  I dont want to copy all my roms and have them doubled up on my HDD.  xsnes9x and this seem to both like d:\roms.  I cant get xsnes9x to change properly(.ini has option but dosent seem to see outside of d:\ directory, if theres a secret them let me in on it!) so this option would be killer, maybe even make the default directory selectable in the gui (like xboyadvance ect...). Video looks real nice ingame.  Fill out the gui, options, a few more filters, save/load states and you got an amazing port, thanks for working on this, its much appreciated

o man, zsnes has long been king of the PC.  I can remeber finding an old floppy with ZSNES on it back when the default screensaver was set to be snow.  I played Final Fantasy IV hardtype for the first time over Xmas.  This is awesome.
