X2 & X3 both seem to run a little smoother than X1 but it could be my imagination since all 3 games stay at 60/60 very consistantly. The opening stage of X1 seems to just be a bit slow when the action get intense but then again that's before you get the dash boots and my mind likes to play tricks on me a lot.

I remember hearing about that long ago on the ZSNES forum. Aparently the slowdown happened on the real cart for X1. I believe X2 and X3 run better because capcom added a chip to them, but I can't remember the name of it and i'm too lazy too google it. Basically what I'm trying to say is that the game runs as it should smile.gif

Great release, can't wait for the updates!

This is a very impressive emulator. Great job.

The biggest flaws I see right now is no menu coming up when you click an analog stick that allows you to adjust various options, and a way to adjust the screen would be great - for some reason, the picture is stuck in the bottom left corner of my TV, with black bars surrounding the top/right

i'd truly given up that anyone would bother with porting this. FF4 and Ogre Battle's sound were so buggy, i couldn't play them. i'm sure you're just getting started and can't wait to see what you add to this. hoping for save states.

oh yes, and THANK YOU!!! almost forgot to say that.

Is there anyway you could add usb support...that way it would be possible to use a http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=160&products_id=4234&PHPSESSID=c3d783674a81cd1e366bfeeacfb7beeb  All you would need is to add drivers for standard HID divices.

thanks,
Stephen

"All you would need" is a big understatment. I know xport tackled similar devices and basicly usb support is hard coded in the kernel and would requires some funky low-level coding. Now this isn't a verbatim quote but it's what xport said.

the special chip in mega x2/3 is called "C4" and yeah, it's perfectly normal for x1 to slowdown.

Update Mega Man X1: I beat the game straight through picking up everything and doing all the tricks and glitches I know. Ran at 60/60 about the whole time and the most it ever dropped was to 59/60. While playing I got to thinking that it's possible this happened on the actual cart and maybe my setting on my PC emulators were doing something to the game to run a little better than it actually should. If that's the case then I would certaintly be used to that over the actual cart.

I know about the chip in X2 and X3. In fact, I remember when Zsnes couldn't play those games because of that chip. I didn't realize their actual function until now though.

Update Mortal Kombat 2: Again, it seemed like the sound, while better than xsnes9x wasn't quite right. It seemed like certain effects were cutting off too soon or not registering but then I played it on Zsnes on the PC and got virtually the same results so I may just be to used to the arcade version.

I'm going to try to beat X2 tonight before I go to bed. X3... I really hate that game so it might take longer for me to get motivated.

I believe the MK2 emulation is just not correct in any emulator, because i played an incredible amount of MK2 Snes back in the day,
and its like the sound fade out just is not correct in emulators..
(or maybe the fade out is just missing in emu's, thus resulting in the cutting off effect)

Havent had the chance to try Zsnexbox yet though, maybe tomorow..
(also you should rename it to just Zsnex, the whole box thing is such a mouthfull tongue.gif  )

I must say, this is the most smooth running SNES emulator I've played on my Xbox. I'm extremely satisfied. I've only had a chance to try out like 10 or 11 of my favorite roms real quick and they all ran SMOOOTH, that's what I look for in an emulator. I can't wait untill we get more features out of this beast, like being able to change the filters during game play, fast forward, Save States, screen shots.. I'm sure that will come in time, untill then KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK NES!

I had the same problem using a PSX -> Xbox converter, but it worked when I plugged a standard controller in.

Well I got my playstation controller working with the emualtor, all you have to do is restart the emulator with the playstation controller pluged into the xbox and it should work fine. Its just a bug in the emulator as its a beta.

Flicker filter is turned off. Hardware filtering is set to linear.

I don't know if I'm going to release the source. The Zsnes core is built from the CVS code from 4-15-06. pagefault will be giving me some updated code that will fix several issues with the emulation.

The next release will include an options screen and a resizable/movable display.

Awesome; not only is ZSnes my favorite SNES emulator, but I've been -really- discontent with the selection of SNES emulators for Xbox. None of them have the functionality of Xport's work.

and this one has?
