A couple is 2. A few is 3. Several would be at least 4.

sorry to dissapoint wink.gif

to the person who can't get your originals to boot, your drive key probably isn't embedded in the firmware properly. try restoring the drive to original and trying again.

The only difference between Xtreme5.3 and iXtreme1.2 is the non stealth backup blocking thing?
So 5.3 fw with full stealth backups are safe on live? Or i should flash the iXtreme1.2fw immediatelly? Thx  love.gif

I hook the drive to my pc start up into dos works fine and detects the 360 drive no problem through mtkflash
when i go to get the orig.bin  it says port fe20 master/slave a0 and stays there
I can't figure out why when its flashed fine when i've done it before
i think the last i flashed was 5.1 or 5.2   not exactly sure as my floppy somehow screwed up and i had to make a new one
any help would be appreciated

drive also has trouble reading bought games now which makes me wonder if the drive is trying to die iitself

it sounds like you need to do the 10 second trick, or the 0800 disc.

Hello Guys,

Can you help me out.

I have a samsung ms25 drive, currently flashed with extreme 5.3 firmware. This was done on my current pc, a HP Compaq DC5100sff. with onboard sata.

Right now i want to flash my drive to ixtreme v1.2, so i copied the key into my firmware. Created new usb-bootable stick, with iprep and also tried Xtreme bootmaker v 0.3.6 and v 0.5.3.

After connecting dvd-drive to my pc, booting from usb, i tried entering the following commands:
-mtkflash w ix12.bin (name of my firmware file)
-mtkflash w /m /sata ix12.bin
-iflash 1234567 12345   etc.

All give me selection between Xtreme Master and Slave

I Select Xtreme Master (1)

and i get this response:

1: XTREME Pri Master
Choose one drive:1
Port 7000, Master/Slave: a0

Then nothing happens annymore, and i have to quit with CTRL+C

The strange thing is, i flashed the same drive, on the same computer before to extreme v5.3, nothing changed, and now i cant get it to work.

Anybody an idea of what i am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance

If you haven't tried it yet try the 0800 disk had a similar problem (caused by the firmware guard on fw5.3 I think)

Ave,

I had the exact same issue - and more then likely it's a standard issue.
You need to pop in the enable0800 disc and let it spin for 15 - 25 seconds before you actually "Choose" the port in the mtkflash command. It'll work!

Ok,

I downloaded old firmware version, and from there i burned the 0800.bin file to a dvd (single layer) with clonecd (no special settings, as far as i know(default settings))

Then i boot pc from usb-stick with x-box powered on (otherwise i get no drive detected)
I start mtkflash w ix12.bin
before i choose 1, ixtreme primary i insert 0800 disc and wait 20 sec.
Then i hit 1, and nothing happens,

Still the same master/slave error.....

Pls help.

I tried 3 different computers
1) hp dc5100 sff
2) Dell Optiplex gx620 (intel® 82801 GB/GR/GH (ICH7 family) serial ata Storage controller)
3) Dell optiplex 745 (intel® ICH8 4 port Serial ATA Storage Controller)

all give me same master/slave error

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ???!!!!!???

ok i've done all of this

Extract from iXtremeXX.rar (XX is the version) to a directory under the root C:\iXtreme
Place a copy of the orig.bin in C:\iXtreme where orig.bin is the original fw of the drive that was first associated to that MB.
You replaced your drive, use your orig.bin of the first drive you had on that MB
You replaced your MB, use the orig.bin of the drive that was originally on that MB
In Windows Explorer you double click on Make iXtreme firmware.cmd and a DOS window will open telling you the key. You will also be requested if you want to spoof when the orig.bin is not associated to a ms28:
If you have a Hitachi, answer Y and Enter
If you have a Samsung ms25, we suggest you say N and Enter. It seems when a ms28 fw is used in a ms25 that it may make it less detectable if left as ms28. Note that this is to the best of the info available at this point. You can read this post and those leading to it.
Now you want to see the message saying " ***SUCCESS*** " and Drive Key copied (and Drive Version Spoofed when required)

if i try to put ixtrem12.bin in the folder with my orig.bin it says ix12.bin not found and aborts but if i take it out it will make the ix12.bin
when i try to use xtreme bootmaker or iprep it does pick up the .bin file .. its like theres nothing there

After you have used Make iXtreme firmware.cmd to inject your key and made your ix12.bin. make the usb boot key as normal with iprep, Put the ix12.bin in the root of your usb key and type mtkflash w /m /sata ix12.bin. you can't load the ix12.bin into iprep because you changed it and fails the hash check which is normal

to the person who can't get your originals to boot, your drive key probably isn't embedded in the firmware properly. try restoring the drive to original and trying again.

Update:

I flashed the fw back to original and then tried creating another bootable USB key..same thing, it said it was created fine, flashed fine with the 10 sec trick and everything...but wouldn't boot up originals or backups. So back to the drawing board and I did what someone here suggested, and that was to insert my drive key into the 1.2 fw using the Make IXtreme Firmware.cmd and then just stick it on the USB key and then flash the 12.bin using mtkflash...worked perfectly and now everything works..

:-)

Anybody ??

I had some trouble getting the 0800 disc to workd properly too. I found that it was down to the timing. I had to experiment with it to get the timing just right. In the end I have come to a point where I don't actualy know how long I wait for in terms of seconds. I just listen to the noises the drive makes and am able to to tell when to push the number key when it is right.
Does that make sense?

I hear the drive spin up, then you can hear it moving the laser to read the disc and when that has finished I press the number key straight away. If I wait too long it doesn't work and if I do it too soon it doesn't work.

Also, you could try (if you haven't already) removing ALL other drives so that the only drive connected is the 360 DVD.
