Hi All,
been keeping track of this thread for a while now and haven't heard anything anymore on the Hitachi Ixtreme FW. Why does this not have any priority when most drives out there are Hitachi. We have had 3 versions of the Sammy one, 1.1 didn't even come out but was skipped, and none for Hitachi. Anyone got any more info on a release?
I know for a fact that my Hitachi drive is realy depressed. It doesn't feel the love anymore which it got before by all you wonderful hackers.
Anyway, I still appriciate all the work done by C4Eva and all others. Keep it up
*ahem*
Second post in this thread?

The Hitachi Version of iXtreme is currently a Work In Progress. There is no ETA, so i would give it several weeks before asking how its going.
That was posted june 9th, which was 14 days ago. A 'few' weeks is 2 weeks, 'several' implies more than 2. So, even though you have specifically gone against what I asked, I will give you a update.
Hitachi is going through internal testing right now. It has not gone to any type of public testing yet. It is about 95% finished, I dont think it will be more than a week before its public, unless we run into some serious hiccups (It CAN happen, there are NO guarantee's in any of this).
So, when i post publically that "Hitachi will be several weeks" (two weeks ago), and then people come on here saying shit like "Why does this not have any priority when most drives out there are Hitachi", it becomes slightly aggrivating. Samsung WAS the priority because that is exactly what c4e has worked on since he started. Its more familiar to him, and easier to implement. It could be done quicker, and therefore IT WAS. Perhaps you think that tackling the longer project first and making 100% of the community waiting instead of 60% of the community is some type of 'priority', but we dont.
The reason there were 'three' versions of ixtreme was because bugs and/or features need to be fixed/implemented for YOUR live accounts preservation. Or would you prefer that instead of releasing a quick-fix, c4e spends a few weeks on a different hardware's fw hack, and then go back and release that 'quick fix' ? Doesnt make much sense eh?
It all comes down to this.
If you dont have anything nice to say, DONT SAY IT. The hard work of developers is coveted, yes, but NOT a requirement. Anything given is a gift. Dont EVER demand something, or why this is this way, or that is that way. Remember, things are going to come at the speed they are going to come at. Bitching about it is only going to piss people off, and possibly delay/prevent the releasing of YOUR gift.Yes, i have seen projects in the past that have stopped entirely due to public criticism. Get over it.
Any further questioning of Hitachi ETA, or regarding how or what to spoof to, will be deleted.
