Unusual request but we require Hitachi 079 Firmware dumps. If you have one could you please send it to admin /AT/ team-xecuter.com
As far as we know there are 4 different firmwares where the drive key starts at: 4B00, 4C30, 4D20 and 4E10
We have the 4B00 but need the others - many thanks

I've just been hit with about 200 emails asking why we want the Hitachi 079 firmwares lol
Well first stop sending emails if you are not sending me the firmware - thanks

OK, well we have made a mod that completely converts the Hitachi 079 drive so that it switches to modeb (no SLAX needed) and all read / write capabilities are operational in Windows using Maximus Toolbox etc (Hopefully Maximus will now add USB support to his app for the 078 / 079 drives now as that would be perfect). This mod does NOT hack the drive so you can boot backups. We feel that any kind of hardware mod to do that is a waste of time now so it is best to update to the latest firmwares via flashing - which you currently cannot do with the Hitachi 079 (until now of course)

We are missing a couple of firmwares, but as soon as we get those will only take a few hours to finish and the mod will be ready to ship (we used the same design as our old X78 mod however that never shipped as there wasn't much point in the end).

Thanks goto Gary OPA, C4EVA & Maximus for their efforts and contributions.

Part of me wants to say that this is great news for 78/79 owners, and part of me wants to say that they're a business asking for firmware, which always falls under the 'might be illegal' catagory (tho only by a smigen). tongue.gif

 Seriously, tho, that's pretty cool.

Time and time again, team Xecuter has proven themselves to be a vital part to the console community. I am in no way surprised to see something out from them and look forward to trying it out. Im sure a cheap Xeno version will be out as per usual... But i always buy Xecuter anyway... Thanks again Guys. Keep up the good work.

Come on guys one rule for all would be good...I say drop the crappy rule about asking for firmware, or remove this entire thread, as it does not comply

This wasnt posted as a firmware request... merely to let us know about the x79 that is coming out that im sure many will want/need.

Here's a question for you, I have the elite which is using the Hitachi 079 drive.  What exactly do I need? JUST this mod? or this mod plus something else?

Also it states that it does not modify the hardware to play backups (directly?) which is fine, but does that mean that I can update the firmware and play my backups (indirect)?

Thanks for the help.

Just a kind reminder that the xbox-scene news page and the forums are separate entities and do not follow the same rules. We still do NOT permit asking for files/binaries here, as per the rules. And I don't want to hear any complaining about a double standard/"If they can ask for firmware dumps in a news post why can't I do it on the forums???" News page != forums. That is all; anyone else arguing the issue here will be handed a 3 day mute.

Yes; that's the idea.. the chip lets you enter modeb and flash your drive via conventional flashing methods.
