Here's the latest info straight from c4eva in #fw channel yesterday.  Looks like he is thinking this coming weekend for at least beta version.

Ok, not sure if this is for this topic or not, but I have a hitachi drive and I am waiting for the ixtreme to come out but I have been on xbox live with my unmodded hitachi drive, will this pose a problem?  I have read on here and other forums that M$ takes a "thumb print" of your drive when you first log on with it and if there are any changes to the firmware you will get banned?  is this true?  Am I not able to mod my new hitachi drive with Ixtreme when it comes out?  thanks in advance.

thats not accurate. it was a theory when the banning started, but it has been confirmed as not true. microsoft is checking the DMI/PFI/SS of a disc, and possibly of discs loaded previously. Nothing more, nothing less (at this time)

no concrete evidence though. i have disappeared from live for a month before when i was busy with real life stuff. they would ban lots of innocent people if they banned people who were offline for the interim.

Im just curious if the Ixtreme firmware will allow my hitachi to play DVD-R DL (as of right now the firmware i have wont allow -R backups to run *white screen saying to insert this dvd into a 360 console...

if i ever get back on live...and get banned....i could care less...

i have lots of people around here that like to network/lan so im not worried..

and theres always xlink kai when i need a *live* fix smile.gif

If beta testing starts this week it most likely means a release probably the week after...

So still about 2 weeks away from general release. However at least it looks like he has been able to do alot of things considered not possible originally with the hitachi.. so props for all his work.

sorry i have been into a couple other projects lately very heavily (one of them being the copper gpu heatsink myself and a buddy are working on smile.gif), but from what i have read, it seems the general consnesus is that bad backups were the cause?

my 360 has been apart for some time but has 5.2c and i did the spring update.  last i had it together, before i started getting measurements for the copper hs, mine was not banned.  but, i only have a couple games, so only backups of those games were ever made and my way was always a kreon flashed drive, xbc and then imgburn (well i think i used imgburn on the first one and then went to image burn).  so only using this setup, does this mean i can put in 1.2 on my ms28 and be good to go or is it still a crapshoot?

thanks in advance, now back to working out more issues w/ machining copper...damn soft metal, haha

long story

You are replying in the hitachi topic, but to answer your question, YES you can flash 1.2 on your samsung drive
If you created your own backups with a kreon drive in the right way you shouldn't have any probs playing them on 1.2
