Reflashing Ixtreme Again
« on: May 31, 2007, 05:05:00 PM »

I updated my (originally MS25) Samsung drive from x5.3 to ix1.0 but when i put backups in i would get the 'please insert this disc into an xbox 360 console' message.

In the past this came up and hex editing the firmwares with my key solved the issue.
So after doing this i try to reflash, but after using the enable0800 disc, i get the message

port 9f0 master/slave a0

but then it just hangs there, no flashing no other messages..

I can ctrl+c, the computer is still running, but it wont flash no matter what.

I have removed all other drives that could be conflicting.

Any ideas?

Were you trying to load non-stealth or single layer backups? If so, that would explain them not loading..iXtreme prevents loading these types of disks. As for your problem, I'm not entirely sure...You could always try the bad flash method with a VIA sata chipset..

Ok my enable0800 is on a single layer.

Apparently ixtreme no longer supports single layer discs.
Just burning a new enable0800.

I too have just flashed my MS25 with IX10, the flash was flawless but when I insert a game disc (original or backup) all I get it the white screen saying "To play this disc put it in a 360 console".

I take it something went wrong with the key injection.

I spent most of yesterday trying to re-flash with my original f/w and the old hacked f/w but no joy. I've even tried the 0800 disc.

PC's bios detects the drive and mtkflash finds the DVD drive everytime.
1: NF4SAT1 Sec Master
2: NF4SAT1 Sec Slave

I select 1: as usual, and all I get is -
Port: 97, Master/Slave: a0
_

The floppy light comes on for about 1 second.

I cant get beyond this stage, is the drive bricked?

Thanks for helping.

woodchin:
I have gotten this same error with my MS25. Now that you have flashed with the new IX10 firmware and your originals don't work, maybe there was a problem with the key injecting.  The 0800 disc needs to be burnt to a double layer disc in order for it to work with the new IX10 firmware (as the new IX10 firmware no longer supports single layer disc's).  The 0800 disc is what helped me get past a similar error "Port: 97, Master/Slave: a0" when flashing. Once you burn the 0800 disc to a double layer put it in the drive and wait about 15 seconds. Your drive should now be ready to be flashed back to your original firmware.

I hope this works for you. I spent 12 hours trying to hex edit my mtkflash and dozens of other things to overcome this error. After 12 long frustrating stressful hours I tried the double layer 0800 disc and it finally would let me flash my MS25 drive. I'm not an expert at this stuff but with all the hours spent reading these forums I'm becoming one. Thank you xbox-scene!!! Good luck and let me know if you get your MS25 to work.

I didn't think the 10sec trick applied or would even work with the MS25. I thought it was the method to use when flashing an MS28. Next time I get this error I will try it. Thanks welly_59.

I may be wrong, but I think the 10 second trick applies to the firmguard, and that's why it will work with the MS25, if you've previously flashed with newer xtreme fw's with firmguard.

Ms 28 requires 10 sec trick with Via chipset SATA(badflash)

Ms25 stock requires nothing of that (0800 or badflash)
Ms25 with any new recent fw can be done using either 0800 disc (to deactivate firmguard) or 10 sec trick with Via chipset SATA(badflash to bypass firmguard)

Thanks sosotiit,

I wish I would have known firmguard was the reason why I could not flash my MS25 with the Via chipset, after spending 12 hours and reading these forums, I don't know how I missed this. Now I know 0800 disc or 10 sec trick will unlock firmguard. Thanks you very much!
