Jesus, will someone who knows what they are talking about please answer the ms25 to ms28 questions please?
I have skimmed the thread and I have already seen it asked about 7 times, someone must have an answer.

Then why don't you try reading it instead of skimming it, it has been answered already.
If you have an ms25 then select YES. This firmware is based on ms28 and you have to spoof your console into thinking it's still ms25.
Clear now?

So the question that needs to be answered then...

Should those of us with MS25 drives spoof iXtreme to MS25, or let it default to MS28.

Its funny to me in a way...Whats safer

Having a ms25 drive with ms28 firmware...

or

Having a ms25 drive with ms28 firmware that pretends to be ms25.

Clicking 'yes' will transfer the drive version strings accordingly (ms25 to ms25) however, e66 allows for upgrades (but not downgrades) so spoofing as ms28 is ALSO fine. So, no sweat guys, you can do either and your fine. Neither is better or worse.

What about the whole 'do not flash drive without it being powered from xbox360'.

It was speculation (along with about 300 other things). We have no proof that they are using that as a basis. We will just have to let time tell if it will become a issue. I highly doubt it though.

i'm bit scared yet with this all
so, it's really necessary to redo my whole backup lib again to stealth ones? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

well, better than nothing and than stays offline
i hope NOW c4e kill every single chance of m$ detects and ban us

time to sell my banned box, get new one and try out this baby
i've renewed my xbox live gold acc few days before the hammer, i'm glad my money doesn't go to trash

when i got my brand new box i post here the results.
thanks again c4e and still stay with us

Some Notes:

- MS28 drive.

- After I did the spring update I removed my network cable, haven't connected to Live since. Coincidentally, a few days later after I upgraded the bannings started.

- I've only played backups offline in the meantime, that pass the DVD Mulleter stealth tests.

- I haven't played a game on Live since COD3 came out, MONTHS ago. (Actual Live match).

- I do, however, have my dash set to auto-connect to Live. So it is ALWAYS connected to Live in the background.

- I upgraded to iXtreme 1.0 tonight, and tried to connect to Live, NADA. Z codes abound, I was banned.

I guess this means that you don't have to play the games on Live, just be connected to Live in the background while playing a game to get banned  blink.gif

There were some early backups I was using that didn't have all of the "stealth" info on the disc, so I'm guesing those were the culprits...

I guess its time to get ANOTHER 360 (which will be my 4th console because 2 others died on me, and now this one is banned).  jester.gif  In other news, I still have my original Xbox 1 (unbanned)...  jester.gif

Back on topic: Thanks C4EVA for your hard work on this, hopefully my soon to be purchased core console will be on Live for another year with your iXtreme release beerchug.gif

I know you're somewhat of a guru but I disagree:
If e66 really allows updates then MS-28 version-id ('no') seems a much better choice for MS-25 owners. Why? Because iXtreme, just like every Firmguarded Xtreme FW, is based on MS-28. Spoofing to MS-25 will make it easier to detect because no real MS-25 has read/write protection.

Please correct me if my logic is flawed.

for those who missed it in other threads.. I see questions about powering up the drive.  It's been mentioned that you can power the 360 without the a/v cable plugged in and it wont boot up enough to make a log, the processor and all is still sleeping.  You have 5 minutes before it will auto-off, which is plenty of time to flash a samsung!  I did two of them, no problems.

I put in a non-stealth disc and the tray just said "reading".  Never did anything else.

Right with you on that one!  I have an ms25 that has been flashed twice (5.2D - 5.3D and still not banned).  If this is somehow logged in the hardware as an error or attempt to flash then I'm buggered anyway!  I will still use the 360's power for iXtreme.

I do not think that they will target you with a ban with a log of just this error though.  With 2,000,000+ units sold this error could occur naturally with a loose connection.  It may be one of the things they look but it would need more than just this.

I am watching this thread avidly.  It will be 8 hours before I flash (at work).

Good luck everyone!  cool.gif

I would be extremely cautious using this new firmware on Live.  It may be a temporary fix since you all know M$ has probably gotten ahold of the new firmware the moment it was released into the wild and when they get around to examining the new hacked firmware they will find out new ways to ban even if this firmware is truly live-proof.  As mentioned before, banning does not happen immediately for everyone when the go online,  It's still a gambling game as of yet..   unsure.gif

I myself do truly congratualte C4E though for all his hard work for the scene

I'm a bit nervous of all this... a couple of comments...

feflicker, so you got banned after flashing to the firmware? or were you banned before you did it?

Also, since the ban, ive been unbanned, and running my xbox 360 with the sata cable unplugged. I'm still not banned. Have plugged the drive back in now, still not banned. I flashed my drive twice using the xbox 360 power supply. And again, im not banned.

However, does c64 actually know what they are doing now?
I.e if i change to this firmware, could it increase my chances of being banned due to ms seeing firmwares changed again?

For the record i dont play games on live, i just use it to talk to people and download content. I dont / never have played halo etc.

I'm struggling to work out how a firmware can be written which beats all ms's checks unless we know what their checks are for sure?

Sorry for asking but... first You say that "After I did the spring update I removed my network cable, haven't connected to Live since. " then You say "I do, however, have my dash set to auto-connect to Live. So it is ALWAYS connected to Live in the background."

So did You remove network cable or not? Please decide biggrin.gif
