Our friend c4eva has asked us to once again bring this
much-anticipated new firmware to everyone!

We and our fellow beta testers have put it through extensive
testing over the past few days and are happy to report no bugs
or problems, and most importantly, no bans! He has really
outdone himself this time!

Included in the package this time around is a new version (v0.6)
of SamTool by caster420 which will copy your drive key, and
optionally the version strings from your orig.bin for spoofing.

Usage is as follows:

samtool.exe orig.bin ixtreme.bin

Also, please note that included is a version ixtreme-inq.bin
which is strictly for Windows/Linux testing ONLY. Do *NOT* flash
the -inq version to your drive.

for the people who think they are safe with this new firmware, you likely are no better than before.

Microsoft designed the 360, and any hacks or firmwares released can be disassembled very quickly and ripped apart looking for bugs, holes, loops, problems or anything of the like they can use to their advantage - and by the looks of things, it will be another log and execute scenario as that seems to work for them.

Your new firmware may allow you to play your backups online for now - but granted unless C4E has access to the actual decrypted disassembled 360 kernel to know for sure what microsoft has done in the last updates, he can only assume what is going on in the background... and remember what assumptions do. Should be an interesting cat and mouse game to say the least.

C4E has lots of determination, and help.. I am not saying his work is bad - but no one is perfect, especially against huge corporations where hes writing 'blindfolded'.

Ok, I'm running 4.2b Xtreme at the moment, but I haven't turned on my 360 since before the spring update. Will I need my orig.bin to flash to iXtreme 1.0? I don't have it as my HDD has dies since then. Am I stuffed?

KLoNe: you can use whatever firmware is on your drive as orig.bin. It only needs the key from it and thats always on the same place.
REmember to back it up though in case your drive ever dies.

What do you suppose the chances are of non-stealth sector backups working with this fw in a future release? Then I would use it, but right now, my diminished urge for Live is being outweighed by lack of DL discs.

But is there anyone who can say in what time span the hitachi fw can be found, even beta? I'd be happy to test it.

The whole point of this was to block non stealth discs...

So why in the world would C4e change it allow non stealth games to play?

Its for protection. So if you actually own these games you speak of with no stealth, then re rip them and reburn them... DLs arent that expensive.

but stealth isnt the issue in my opinion, i havent been banned and some of my backups are not stealth so how do u explain that? i wont be updating to this firmware simple because i survuved the banning and i reckon that this would get me cought. and it dosnt bother me if i get banned because my xbox is starting to die contsantly freezing so i'll play this update by ear
