Xvectrex beta 0.1-- Posted by XanTium on December 10 01:55 EST
Darcelf released a new emulator for Xbox. Xvectrex(info) is a port of vecx, a vectrex emulator.
The Vectrex is an 8-bit video game console developed by General Consumer Electric (GCE) and later bought by Milton Bradley Company. The Vectrex is unique in that it utilized vector graphics drawn on a monitor that was integrated in the console; no other console before or after the Vectrex had a comparable configuration. It was released in late 1982 at a retail price of $199. As the video game market declined and then crashed, the Vectrex exited the market in early 1984.

This is awesome. I've been waiting for a Vectrex emulator for Xbox for years, especially after seeing how many emulators there are for all these consoles I've never even heard of. Time to try this baby out.

Nice! This is going to be awsome.

I had a vectrex once, before I was stupid enough to sell it. I sort of miss it. smile.gif
It was a very unique machine indeed.

it seems x68000 has been done by xport: http://xport.xbox-sc...com/x68000x.php
so no need to do it twice.
virtual boy ? why not. it should be easy if a good source code is available.

Virtual Boy sounds like a great idea...love the new wave of ports you're putting out here.  The emu scene for more cutting edge things isn't quite dead, with Gogo and Freakydave (just seem stagnant without a website now) and Carcharius putting out some good stuff, but the older systems certainly died on the vine.  Not so with alg5...love seeing the old stuff come alive.  You're porting all the things people have been idly wishing for for years, you know.

A Vectrex emulator at last. I bow down to you, alg5!  biggrin.gif

But I question I have is this: Are you planning on including sound support in a future release?

Great work.
Is it possible to increase the height of the display to fill the screen more?
It's hard to read the text being so small.

There weren't too many games for vectrex, only found about 35 or so...

no. the original emulator (http://www.eecg.toronto.edu/~manohv/vectrex.html) doesn't have sound either. and i don't see the code for sound inside the source code. porting is something, but adding emulation is another thing....

I choose the same resolution as the original vecx emulator (330x410) he choose that because it's the 1/10 of the internal line resolution of the vectrex. so going until ?x480 would give worst result.
