Can I take any original v78 FW key and COPY/Paste my xtreme v1.6 key and click replace key

ANSWER: No. Read tutorials.txt included in the archive. You should RAW Dump your firmware, save file, open it, than you'll see your unique key. To be safe, copy it and paste it on notepad. do it 2, 3, 4 or as many times you want and compare the key you get. If they are the same, you got it right.

Of Course I know how to raw dump I am talking about RESTORING a v78 with 1.6 so you can upgrade to 1.7 without having the original KEY...Maybe you can flash 1.7 over 1.6 has anyone done this upgrade without reverting back to Original

bought my x360 already flashed with maximus garyopa 1.6.

i did not have original KEY, neither had original firmware.

once you know how to raw dump, you know your KEY.

- this is how it goes (safe side):

1. you don't know your key. no problem, since you don't need it to perform raw dump.

2. after raw dumping, open the saved file (.bin) and TA-DA, you know your key.

3. restore to original firmware, since now you know your key.

4. patch to 1.7

Why does it say you can do 78/79 when it can NOT do a 79 Hitachi, I tried it and it didn't work.

could not edit my post again, so here's a little info missing there.

download Maximus.Xtreme.1_6.for.Hitachi.v0078.rar. now you have 78.bin (original firmware but with a different key) and 78_16.bin (forget it).

after raw dump you will know your key. inject your key in the 78.bin file. save it as "original.bin" or whatever you like.

now you have a GENUINE original LG-HITACHI GDR3120L-0078 firmware, which contains your unique key in it.

restore using original.bin

patch to 1.7

DONE  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

read carefully the readme.txt file and you'll see it does not dump or flash v79. it only patches your v79's fw; no software can do that yet. by now, you have to desolder tsop, dump fw externally, send file to computer, patch it using toolbox 3.1, write to tsop externally, solder tsop back.

hiya, can I ask this please.

I have my hitachi 78fk which I flashed using toolbox 3.0.  I've flashed many times over sammy drives but this'll be my first time reflashing a hitachi.

When I restore, should I use the 3.0 to do the actual restore first seeing as thats the prog I used to do it, and then go ahead and start the flash from scratch with this new 3.1?  Or is it perfectly fine to do the restore and then the patching in 3.1 seeing as its the same app but with just an update?

Also I'm presuming I dont need to reboot the 360 or the pc in between both restore and flashing

I felt so bad last night. Myself, a friend of mine with a PC with SATA went to another friends to first time try to flash the systems our selves. We had to use his PC as I only have a Laptop as does my other friend. We tried mine first, took a long time the first time as we read each step about 9 times heh. But once done we they tried a burned copy, woo, worked. So we did my friends with the laptop as well, and he had the same version as mine so this one took about 5 minutes.

Now, my friend who actually had the sata setup, has a 78. Wouldn't work at all with the maxi release, or the new 3.1. Turns out it does not support the SIL chipset yet which he has. So we couldn't mod his

So do we know of a release in the future that may support the SIL chipset?

I am trying to reflash my drive with 3.1 and i was always getting drive not ready,   however when i tried using the 3.0 version it worked with no problems,  any idea what i might be doing wrong?

i came to post the same question. i waited to get an elite system. i have the hitachi drive and keep seeing new things about v79, but then posts immediatly after saying nothing is cracked on it yet... I bought this SATA PCI card from new egg because it has the VIA 6421 chip and i saw that in several tutorials. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16815124022  even though most were talking about samsung i figured it would be ok for hitachi. was this a mistake? <-Q1

I was also going to get the blaster 360, but once i read about the elite drives being different i waited. do you think they will have to do any hardware changes to the blaster to make it work with hitachi v79? or do you think it will be fine once a firmware method is reached? <-Q2

please let me know if the pci card and blaster will be enough because i want to have the hardware ready the day a firmware tool is available. also i am using windows xp pro sp2. non 64bit. if that helps any.

This program does support the 79 although NOT by software flashing.
To do the 79 you need to de-solder the TSOP.

I have usb-sata and 78.. Cant read it gives error every time. Any solution except to wait until next release?
