Commodore4Eva Xtreme Hitachi-LG v2.4 Stealth
« Reply #75 on: May 18, 2007, 06:14:00 AM »

hey all. i tried a restore of my hit 59D and appeared to work. all be it with the odd i/o error which apparently is ok. i carried on and flashed to the newest c4eva 2.4 which also said it was 100 successful. so restarted as it said and low and behold i get E74 sec code 1422. i thought oh prob jus av cabel. no. so i unhooked dvd drive and switched on and it works. so its not graphics card or av cable its the firmware thats causing the E74. i was wondering what to do next. as ive tried a few times to restore it back to original but i still get E74 error when i hook the drive back up. i originally used the restore f line using c4evas restore.bat as it said original wasnt needed. later i found my original. this is after the e74 error. and i treid using the restore.bat there and still no luck.

I have a 47DJ hitachi, I did the get to modeB by using SLaxCD boot.

Then I boot to windows with the xbox in modeB on, I run the C4Eva X v2.4  After using the command flash24s.bat The program starts to run then failed.

It gives me Error: Hitachi Drive build was not detected.
Warning: 3 of these could be wrong:
1- check if ur drive is in windows:  yes
2- makesure u're using the right letter: yes it's F
3- your xbox is not a working version ????

Can you guys help me diagnose this?

Will my xbox still playable?

After I ran the flash24s.bat it only created the KEY.bin and WAS.bin file but not other remainding files like in the Readme said.

Can i just ask how long this takes to flash.

I want to leave my Video cable out so the 360 does not log a E64, but i understand this gives me 5 mins.

Nowing my luck, i will run into a problem, and it will power off.

I did a 78fk with toolbox a while back, but did leave the vid cable in, so the box could have logged the disconnection, that box is now banned. I know everybody says this does not matter, but i really want to try and flash with the box not logging the disconnection.

Im a dab hand with FWTool box, but first time using this.

As i understand,

FOR STOCK DRIVE

Get drive into MODE B using slax (Good on my system)

iF SEEN IN WINDOWS ok

FLASH17S (Drive Letter) 1234

Thats it.

I am just wondering, how long will this take, and if i power the box off, will the drive remain in mode b?
So i was thinking of doing the mode b, then starting the flash from a fresh power cycle, giving me a good 5 mins, - bootup time and all that.

flashing with Video cable out a Hitachi is thight,
modeb, restart, flash..

consider connectivity kit, another x360 already banned, or even with the x360

Yes the timing will be really tight.

You need to turn on your 360, boot to slax cd, once in b mode reboot (PC only) to windows and then flash.
You can't turn off the 360 once in B Mode as it will come out of B mode if the 360 is powered down.

I personally think the connectivity kit is the way to go. It makes life really simple with older hitachi's and if M$ are logging 360's powered without SATA, it also solves that problem.

As others have stated though, the latest firmware for Hitachi hasn't been released yet, so whatever happens you should prolly wait for now.

So just to clarify things a bit.  If you have a 78 drive, there is no fw out there that will utilize stealth and possibly keep you on live?

What fw should people be using for a 78 drive and want to be on live?

Nothing yet... it is being worked on but a "protective" firmware is not out yet for Hitachi.

this firmware is fine to go on live with, HOWEVER, you can't play any backups, as it doesn't support stealth media. playing your backups offline could also potentially put you at risk.

i personally am currently running this firmware, and have only been playing my original discs since a few weeks prior to when the banning started. i have been going on live, and currently have the spring update, and am unbanned.

the most important thing, i'm going to say again. this firmware does NOT support media stealth, so if you boot a backup (even a backup that has media stealth), the firmware won't be able to take advantage of the stealth and you WILL be banned.

my personal recommendation, is wait a week or two for the ixtreme hitachi version to be released, and just flash straight to that.

Move your firmware folder into your root drive. I'm gussing you have the flash24s on your desktop or something. Cut the whole firmware folder and put it in your C:\ proper and try again.
