Just flashed back to 2.3.

Toolbox seems to HATE flashing the drive through USB-Sata, so for anyone else using one i recommend waiting a few days until its updated or a command line in which we can flash our premade 1.7 firmware in Dos is released.

So I guess I'm screwed? Can't see the drive in windows....so I can't restore.

Help.

I'm trying to use the tool to read my original firmware as per the readme that came with the toolbox.  But I'm getting an error stating it can't read from the drive.  The drive is visible in windows as well as the toolbox itself.  Anyone have any suggestions?

If you didnt power down the Xbox 360, try remove the Sata cable from the USB, if it still doesnt see it then i would say it is. If you did power it down it might have something to do with modeb and depending on your setup you might have to crosswires.

most frustrating thing ever. Where are the files supposed to be? It can't find the 59flash.exe file for whatever reason. Pain in the ass!

Well i've finally managed to open the damn thing again but it's too late to flash now so i'm gonna do it tomorrow. There should be a lot more confirmations that it works by then also.

maybe if we use the .exe for old drive (46FLASH.exe, 47FLASH.exe, 59FLASH.exe comming with toolbox 3.1) with old a comming with Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_3_Stealth_Rev2 i think work in DOS using the old method....

for flash 46, 47 and 59 drive with toolbox u need use a method for 78, but firts restore the drive with old file i recomend

The only problem with that is i think you have to input what sectors you want to flash and how big they are, seems quiet complicated to do and not worth risking your drive.

The application does not HATE anything, if you want to use old programs (46flash, 47flash, 59 flash) you can use it, but for 78/79 there is no such thing.

For those that are using USB-SATA, when dumping use CLASSIC Read instead of RAW, and when flashing (Direct FLash Patch/ Direct Flash Restore) click the checkbox labeled "Use Classic Mode to detect...", and also use the option "46flash, 47flash, 59flash" as needed.  but again only for 59 and lower

No offence, but if you have read the posts we've all done that and used classic mode for the dumping and flashing, yet ALOT of us are having problems, with either getting a runtime error using the external flashers or it messing up the flash.

A miracle occurred!

Rebooted windows like 20 times...wouldn't give up...and then it showed up!  Quickly ran restore...and that worked.

Whew.

My advice- usb sata users HOLD OFF.

Can we get a count on who's got this working?

78's only

Any 59's or lower?

Use Gary's 2.3 Stealth Firmware, it flashes diffrently and you wont have a problem using it. Just follow the readme.
