Got an Hitachi 59, I'm trying to restore the original firmware first like it says.
I've put into into modeb with Slax, drive is showing in Windows. Ran restore.bat f: from the copmmand prompt and this is what I get:

Version: 0059

Restoring V59 firmware...

Restoring 00/10 sector 90033000 <UnStealth>

Its just stuck there and I can't see the drive in Windows now.  sad.gif

Please dont tell me its bricked, I don't want to buy a third box  sad.gif  sad.gif

Here's a fix for the 59flash problem.
There's a batch file missing. I was able to figure out what it did and flashed my 59 successfully.
The main program calls this file with the parameters of your drive and the sectors to be flashed.

Make a new batch file in the directory where you're running the program called flashasec.bat
(FLASH A SECtor smile.gif ) and put ONLY this in it:

%4 %1 %3 %2 1000

Now you can use the dropdown and pick 59flash or any external flasher and it will work.

I found this by running the filemon utility and saw it was calling a non-existent file called flashasec.bat.
Then I made one, putting this in to see what it was supposed to do:
echo %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9>>commands.txt

Once I saw the output of commands.txt, it was easy to determine what it was supposed to do.

After I flashed my drive, I did the patch compare and it said my drive firmware matched the one I was using to patch.  smile.gif

I gave it a shot and it worked flawlessly. Thanks so much. For all the runtime error people, I imagine this should work just fine.

Now I can't get the firmware toolbox to dump the original firmware (v59dj), just says "Cannot read from drive".

I've got a Via motherboard with built-in VT8237R which has never failed me, I've done just about every version of xbox on this pc. I've only ever used the toolbox for v78 previously.

I give up for now...

sorry mate but with the 78 you need the org.bin which i lost when i upgraded to vista! Is there any way that i can use a orig.bin off another 78 and inject the key off my drive to get the original firmware back? Or will that not work. And i have read all the tuts and read me's that come with it!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

as i read through this topic, i see alot of people with Hitachi v59 and under, use this toolbox to dump/flash/restore their drives. Why are people doing this, because i thought this tool was used best to flash V78 only... >_<

The other firmware pack that was released by C4E, THAT is mainly used for v32-v59 drives.

I even see that someone has flashed Xtreme 1.7 firmware to a Hitachi V47 drive? is this even possible? The new firmware for V47 isn't that like 2.4 ?? I'm wondering if people lack the ability to read proper.

Look this is from the main post for the new C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth
QUOTE
This version will not support v78 drives (use fw toolbox 3.1) but does provide the most stable flashing routines for v32-v59 Hitachi drives.

So there you have it, everyone trying to restore/flash/dump a Hitachi drive V59 and under with this Toolbox, they're too lazy to read perhaps?

This guy who bricked his hitachi and sais he hates the makers, probably was stupid as well to use this tool on his V59 drive.

And for V78 drive you WILL need your original firmware (like stated in the >README< ) >_<

Alot of ignorance i can see here no offense y'all but it's matter of proper reading.

So for repeat:
Hitachi v32-v59 use C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth (=Xtreme 2.4 with disc-jitter fix) to restore, dump, flash! (for restore NO original firmware required!!)

Hitachi v78 use FW Toolbox 3.1 (=Xtreme 1.7 with disc-jitter fix) to restore,dump,flash! (restore v78 original firmware required)[/b]

Just because the news is saying, doesn't mean the dump/flash/restore function for V59 and under, will work with Firmware Toolbox... only the original firmware can be "smart hacked".
QUOTE
WHATS NEW ON FW TB V3.1:
* Added: Smart Hack Patcher now works for all Production Drives V40 thru v79

And if you read this proper, you'll see that ALL Hitachi drives cannot be done yet just with FW TB 3.1.

QUOTE
By one side we are trying to build one solid application (toolbox) that would make easier the future Hitachi Releases (which currently its a pain because of all the variations) and by other side it incorporates Disc-Jitter check fix for Hitachi drives.

Last but not least i'm very grateful for these 2 new developments which'll keep us safe. thanks alot C4E , maximus and Garyopa. I've reflashed about 5-5 Hitachi so far. BIG THX WILL DONATE

yes if you get an orig.bin from the same model of drive (78) you can use FWtoolbox to change the key and make a correct orig.bin.

whenever i have flashed a 78 i have done so to a stock drive and hence had the orig.bin from the first dump..

apologies for the bad info!

soopahfly i would dump the FW on the hacked drives to get your key and then ask a kind soul to give you their orig.bin from a 78 and do the above then flash away my friend!!

Hitachi v32-v59 use C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth (=Xtreme 2.4 with disc-jitter fix) to restore, dump, flash! (for restore NO original firmware required!!)

Thanks for clearing that up. When I first logged into xbins there was no 2.4 there, just the new toolbox.
I'll try again...  blink.gif
