Greets.
I have a MS25 and it is running Xtreme 5.2B, that was flashed with an old Xtreme Boot Maker, and was reporting as MS28.
I now downloaded the Xtreme 5.3B, and using the "Make Xtreme firmware.cmd". I choose the FW as reporting as MS25. I now have the hacked file.
Do I only need to do the mtkflash? Or is there anymore to do, to flash the drive (eg.: Enable0800)?
Great work btw (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Just use mtkflash to flash the newly created x53*.bin to your drive

Given that I have a ms25 drive, should I spoof it to ms25 or to ms28?
Currently it is being spoofed as ms28 without problems, but given that I will change the fw, I can now decide a new spoofed string.

You should spoof it to whatever drive was originally paired with your 360 mobo.

ie if your original drive was ms25 spoof it to ms25.

Thanks for the continuing support for xbox360 firmware.

Would really love to see some catchup for Hitachi users though, especially DVD5 support.

Thanks

Hello. I have a quick question. Say you have a stock system and go ahead and download the MS spring update. Could I then flash the firmware over the spring update? Also, what if you have an older version firmware, say 5.1 for samsung, if you downloaded the update over that and that messed it up, could you then flash the 5.3 and recover it back to its modded state?

Some of you guys second guessing the info he got are underestimating the situation.  He didnt revise the firmware just because he had an empty saturday.

If 4eva said this will be in the update, its probably a good idea to update  biggrin.gif

THANK YOU SIR!

My drive was originally ms25 but then updated with the 28 core with Xtreme 4.2.

My question is whether I should report as ms28 or ms25? Thanks

EDIT: sorry, question was answered above.

QUOTE(Hopeful @ May 6 2007, 06:31 AM) View Post

Important Question:

Do you need a backup of the original firmware to upgrade from 4.x to 5.3?

I have only seen an "xtreme to higher-version-xtreme" upgrade on HITACHI, and it required reflashing the original fw first. (you couldn't just overwrite the old xtreme with the new)

Is sammy the same way? Am I screwed?

This sammy is flashed with 4.x and I do not have its original fw. Can I still do the upgrade?

Do I just get it in 800 and then flash over the current fw?

You should ALWAYS have a backup copy of your firmware.... All you have to do is a use the tools or mtkflash by itself to read you current firmware (not the 0800) and extract the key and place it into the 5.3 firmware.

What should I do now, then?

Pull out my ethernet cable, and wait a few days to see the reactions on Microsofts update, and what it actually does.
- Or what?
