Replace Hitachi Dvd With Samsung Ms25 Drive

Hello all, i have a xbox360 dated December 2005 with a Hitachi drive 47DJ. I am thinking of replacing the drive with a TS-H943 Samsung drive. I have read many posts in the past regarding how the 360 checks for certain information from the dvd rom, most importantly the key which i have. the question is this, if i replace just my key and flash the firmware, will that be enough, the reason why im asking is that from memory, i think i read that it is only boards manufactured after a certain date also check the drives model aswell as the key. what is your advice?
