* Commodore4Eva: It was let known to me that MS received a report on how to detect backup games sometime ago and were working on it for the dash update, so I thought it timely to release this firmware this weekend

* Gameswank: You say that you had some inside info that the spring update would have the ability to detect and possibly ban 360 modded users from their console and or XBOX Live?
* Commodore4Eva: The method won't detect modded drives but can detect a backup disk and make it not boot, banning someone for a copied disk would be harsh and damaging to MS themselves both in revenue and popularity

* Gameswank: Thanks for your time; I better let you go so you can make some gamers happy! Oh by the way when can expect the new Xtreme V5.3 Patch to be released?
* Commodore4Eva: Saturday night at midnight before Microsoft gets a chance to release theirs

Currently Version 5.3 of the Xtreme Firmware will only support the Samsung series of Xbox360 DVD drives. Though I am told other versions are currently underway, also beta testers have been testing this new version for a week now, and Im told they have a system where they test it and report any bugs before general distribution. So come release everything should be fine.

We also managed to get a little info on a few of the new features of the Xtreme firmware V5.3:
* Support added for DVD drive to Report as Hitachi 79
* Disc-Jitter added for Challenge Types 5/7 to avoid possible replay detection.

its amazing what the hacker comunity is doing to still keep a stranglehold on the only part of the xbox 360 whose security has been compromised.
still props to commodore4eva, if what he says is true,i hope he will also release a fix for hitachi drive owners, as soon as he can

When the updates come, its gonna be a sad day for everyone. The games of Cat and Mouse will begin and there will always be constant updating on both sides. If this happens, Microsoft will get the step advantage as they were nothing from before. They will be able to ban xbox live accounts that has used backups, and they probably will. We all knew this day was eventually going to happen, we all just wish it come later than sooner.

What does this mean to you?
1.Well for one the new xbox 360 games will require an update, so getting new games is going to be a hassle. So unplugging your connection is simply not a choice unless your fine with the games you have right now.

2. Xbox Live accounts will be banned, because even if you get the modders firmware, you will (probably) have an update that kills off what the last firmware is going to do.

3. You will be constantly updating your machine, almost once a month or even sooner if they decide to start having updates come out sooner, or even unexpected.

4. The weight of the world will be on the hackers to keep their edge over Microsoft and they didn't get to be a billion dollar corporation for nothing.

Its a sad day when the updates start coming, especially if you sent your xbox to be modded and didnt mod it your self.

assumptions always get predicted and, in the end we dont really know untill it happens,
i for once dont care if they do that as i rarely use xbox live, the only reason that i modded my firmware was to be able to backup my only 2 games that i have, as for the other reason to mod it, its because i thought it was an educational experience. im sure if shit ever hits the fan people that were smart enough to backup there original firmware, will just revert back before going on to live, and keep going about with their lives.

i don't think microsoft do this,becouse microsoft know perfect the hacker community can hack this patch same as the firmware of psp story...
Or in alternative anyone can buy 2 360 and dedicated 1 to live and 1 at the modding and hacking...
