I currently dual-boot ubuntu 7.04 and winxp, however, I'd prefer not to have to restart my computer anymore. I have winxp running with vmplayer under ubuntu and was wondering if this is even possible. Are you able to do hitachi drives as well as samsung? Just looking to see if anyone has done it and if so, does it work. Thanks in advance.

Well, mtkflash is dos based and the only way to read/write samsung drives, so i dont think you have much of a choice there.

Hitachi drives, however, you can except for maybe v78's. Flashsec, written by Seventhson, is the program that we use to flash hitachi drives. It was originally written for linux, along with the rest of the Hitachi apps we use. You can find information and source at http://www.kev.nu/360/dvd.html.
