I think you guys are missing the point.  I may be wrong but it seems like amnya is only trying to do the backup right now and its hanging at the read 00 point.  Nothing has been written so no corrupted firmware.  I do agree that the via chip is your best option.

As for the copy of my firmware, nope, this is what am trying to do and its not working, so basically i have a dead dvd drive lets say and no orig.bin. what are my options here?

I haven't missed the point at all. I was going on his assumption of a dead drive.

Hello, thank you for your help guys, its wrong of me to call it a dead drive which apparently made a bit of mis-leading.

My drive is not dead, since i can read the SST and so on, as for a bad flash, i dont know if i did sth wrong and fried my chip or sth, but am stlil in the backup procedure. I will try getting the VIA or sth called INFECTUS and try to read the backup. Any other ideas will be great to hear, since am stuck at the reading process at 00%.

Thank you all.

Try updating the BIOS of your system.  Its your PC that is making it detect wrong.  If you have access to another PC it should work fine.

If you don't have the original.bin or drive key then you are stuffed. You cannot use a new drive without a drive key that is matched to your motherboard. The cheapest option would be to get someone to remove the SST chip and try retrieving the f/w from it externally. If the chip has become corrupt or damaged then the only options would be either a new motherboard (with drive key available) or a new 360.

Hello again 'xbox360sexual' i connected the drive back and its now giving me an error E64 and E65. So my flash rom is dead, maybe fried, i dnt know. So i ordered a new core system until someone finds a way to fix this damaged DVD drive. Maybe someone will find a hack on how to override the DVD security totally.

Thanx for everyone who helped me here so far.

Take Care, i'll see you all back on xbox live when the core arrives, Good Luck smile.gif

If sst 39sf020 is disabled, no chip or lost power due to bad vcc trick use, Mtkflash reports sst25vf040. The other clue is e65 error rom has failed to function because f/w flash (sst 39sf020) cannot be seen by mt1359se!
