Bricked Hitachi V59
« on: April 18, 2007, 02:15:00 PM »

I flashed my v47 hitachi using birdy's flasher and it worked fine for me. My friend was impressed and asked if i could do the same for his. He has a v59 and because we were in a rush I didnt take the time to be careful and google to see if birdy would work with v59. Well it bricked his v59(I would have known that if I just took a second to look at the bunch of posts on birdy bricking v59's) First thing i did was try to reflash it. I hooked it up to my pc and did the slax boot but now windows does not recognize it and when i turn on his xbox with everything connected i get an E64 error and the tray does not eject. when i turn his xbox on with the sata not connected it turns on and when i push the eject button it says opening but does not.

one more thing, i do not have a backup of the firmware and therefore I do not have the key

now, my question for you guys is: whats the best way to fix this?

1) is there anyway to fix it for free (software)
2) will the chillifix chip work?
3) should i just send it away to someone with a programmer and have them get my key code and put a new            firmware chip on?
4) something else?

thank you in advance for the help

well i bricked my 47dh drive and brought the chillifix set and that fixed my drive and it works like new now so id imagine urs would work the same. But as you dont have the orignal.bin and thus the key im pretty sure theres no way to get the key from the motherboard yet. Or you could send it away like you say and have someone de solder the chip and reprogram it externally as that would get you the key.

Chillifix definately works!
It puts the drive back in it's original state.
The only thing is that untill now i haven't been able (or haven't found out) to flash the drive, but at least it works again and plays original games.

Yeah, i would like to know that aswell...
To me it seems like it must be possible, cus the whole purpose of the chillifix is to make your drive visible in windows again, so you can restore/flash it.
If anyone knows if and how this works, please reply  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

i just thought of something

would it be possible to install the chip, turn it on and let it do its thing then turn it off, take it out and flash the drive?
or does the chillifix chip need to stay in the 360 forever?

I can fix your drive if you need.

I've not used one of the fix chips, but I guess you'll need to flash it with your key (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
