unfortunately flashing firmware is dangerous because if anything happens while writing, a power outage for example, the drive is bricked.
In your case the hint was when you got the first error when you finished reading the FW.  You should have never tried to write it without a successfull dump.
As far as I know your drive is now bricked.
I'm sorry.

Are you not able to flash the drive with the via 10 sec trick, failing that i would think you need to get hold of a new Dvd rom drive, there was 2 on Ebay a few days ago, they sold for about £60.00. Good luck

Are you using a via card, 10 second trick?, are you using xtremebootmaker ms28 bad flash compatability, do you run samhack 12345 1234567 then power up your 360? should flash?

Other than try to flash on another mobo im not sure, did you remove all your other ide, sata drives before flashing? i would give it a go on another board if i were you, failing that, your going to have to give someone your drive and bin image to program the flash with a programmer, ask around nicely and you maybe lucky and get someone who will be prepared to do it for cheap or free, good luck

You should really get you computer to boot through USB, most computers will do this on XP and Up. You do have USB drives on your comp don't ya? wink.gif  Anyways, To get it to boot, just go into your computer's BIOS and search around for Bootable Drives and turn USB/Removable Drives to boot first, before CD,HDD, etc...

When flashing my m28, I never used SamRead, I always used mtkflash and x360sam, try those out man

Hopefully this helps.
